But it was a great ball game. And it's also the one that stands out in my mind the most." On the other side of the coin, Switzer remembers the 1976 game in Lincoln as the game the Sooners won unexpectedly. "I thought Nebraska was the best team that season," the OU coach said. "We won nine ball games that year, so we weren't all bad. But it was crazy the way we won the ball game 20-17 with a long pass and the flea-flicker.

"We went the length of the field in the last minute," Switzer recalled. "We threw the halfback pass from Woody Sheppard to Steve Rhodes and then the flea-flicker to go 80 yards just like that Two plays got us right down there and then Elvis Peacock scored from close in with just 30 seconds left to win it for us. That was a game I never thought we'd win." Win or lose, Switzer gets excited the week of the Nebraska game. "Whether you're a fan, a coach or a player, if you have loyalty to either Oklahoma or Nebraska, you shouldn't have any trouble getting the adrenalin flowing this week," he said. "Because of the time of year it is played, because both teams are usually highly ranked and because it almost always has national significance in the polls, it's always one of the biggest games in college football.

Besides all that, it seems like it's always for the Big Eight Conference championship." Switzer called the annual matchup "a great series between two fine schools. It's been fun, a great bunch of games between class kids on both teams. I have a lot of respect for Nebraska." So what's Switzert prediction for Saturday? "Both teams will have trouble moving the ban on offense because of two strong defenses," he said. "I think the talent is very even this time. I think it's a tossup.

I think we're as good as they are. It's body's ball garnet And it oughV to.be a vmAfmswssml CV3ID CITY TOYOTA 1145 No. 48th 464-0241 Reg. $65.00 Adidas Warm-Ups t9 Reg. $74.95 tPuma Warm-Ups $45oo Reg.
