New York Yankees are riding the crest of an eight-game winning streak, matching their longest previous victory string of the season, but the team is just coasting. Ignoring the fact that the campaign has two weeks to run and they haven't clinched the pennant yet, the Yankee simply are taking their day to day business in stride and concentrating on the world series. Before the games Charley Keller and Nick Etten, the heavy armament of the Bombers, are taking special batting because they need it for the American league opposition but to get ready for the big test against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Former President Of Kent State University Dies On Fishing Trip Kent, Ohio, Sept. James Ozro Engelman, 70, former president of Kent state university and one-time superintendent of schools at Terre Haute, and Decatur, 111., died yesterday on a fishing trip at Middle Bass island in Lake Erie. Sept. Jimmy Bivins retained his "duration" heavyweight crown today, having disposed of his last formidable opponent, Corp. Melio Bettina. The Cleveland negro pounded out a 10-round decision over Bettina, rugged Beacon, N. battler, last night before 14.940 fans who paid $52.650 to see the light.

Bivins, awarded his "duration" title by the National Boxing association, outclassed Bettina from the opening bell and forced his opponent to fight defensively throughout.
