presented Randall Darnell in his senior piano recital on November 19 at Suzanne Little Recital Hall The recital was in partial fulfilment of the re quirements for the Bachelor of Music degree in piano Darnell has earned many honors including the District Prince of Music Contest at Mitchell Community College the John Gurney Music Scholar ship awarded by the North Carolina ederation of Music Clubs when he won the state King of Music contest He has also won several other state piano contests with superior rating such as the Musically Advanced Piano Classification of the NCMC at Lenoir Rhyne College The pianist won a music scholarship in a highly com petitive audition upon entering Queens as a freshman piano major He has maintained this scholarship for the entire four years as well as being a List student Son of Mr and Mrs Billy Darnell of Dallas he also serves as organist at Boger City United Methodist Church He graduated from Lincolnton High School His senior recital included and wrote part of the Mass in which four of the chil dren took part They hired a caterer a band took care of toasts and so on and asked me for my Christmas list They handwrote more than 100 Voice of Democracy con testants and teachers the Christmas parade a drive for Cancer Aid and Research as well as Christmas parties to be given for Western Carolina Cen ter and the Veterans Adminis tration Hospital patients in Salisbury Congratulations and thank you messages from officials on the recent open house cere monies were read and Mrs Coulter reported that Mrs Cliffton Ross Sr treasurer is now recovering from surgery in Iredell Memorial Hospital She is in room 214 and is allowed visitors The meeting was closed according to the ritual unit in their post A social period followed the meeting and refreshments were served Mrs Joyce A McCurry Lincolnton auxiliary president complimented the girls on their program and invited them to return when a Lincolnton Unit is formed and present a program Mrs Gaither presented the Junior Unit a check on behalf of the Lincolnton Auxiliary to be placed in their treasury and used on some worthy cause Participating in the program were Robin Moose unit Bridge Games Are Suspended Mrs Taylor Leonard directed the seven and one half tables of bridge in play Monday night at the Statesville Elks Lodge Officials noted that this was the last game of
