By Katie Riley JoumtfWriter Golden oldie situation comedies, sports plus more than 30 movies a week will be broadcast 24 hours a day on KBGT-TV, scheduled to debut in Nebraska on June 1. The state's first independent TV station originally was scheduled to go on the air Nov.

1, but construction problems and harsh weather delayed work on the station's tower near Genoa in Nance County. The tower is almost completed, said Frank Brosseau, station manager and president of television for the Florida-based Amaturo Group Inc, owner of the independent station and the Nebraska Television Network of ABC affiliates in greater Nebraska. Non-stop Known commercially as Big 8-TV, the station will offer non-stop broadcasting of sports, regional and national news, weather, movies and TV series such as The Man from Uncle," "Lou Grant," "Star Trek," "Green Acres," "Fame," "Streets of San Francisco," "Dukes of Hazzard," "Gilligan's Island," "Benny Hill" and others. Brosseau also has plans to air "CHiPS," "The Avengers" and "The Dukes of Hazzard" on Big 8-TV, and the station has bought movie packages through 1990. Brosseau hopes to conduct viewer surveys to gauge public interest in TV programming.

"An independent network doesn't have to take what ABC or CBS sends down. Wei be responding to local viewers," Brosseau said. The station, which already has invested $1.5 million in programming, also will broadcast 35 lo 40 movies a week, including a prime-time More than 200,000 homes in a area in eastern Nebraska will pick up the station's signals, including homes in Lincoln, Tekamah, Loup City, Hastings and Wilber. The station's signal win not reach Omaha, however. Although many Lincoln merchants have not used TV advertising before, Brosseau expects Big 8-TV to pick up the slack.

"We already have substantial support in Norfolk and Columbus and Grand Island," he said. "Sales and advertising have been beyond our wildest expectations." 58 systems Cablevision of Lincoln will be among 58 cable systems that will carry the station, Brosseau said. Cablevision hopes to air the station on either Channel 4 or Channel 8 beginning July 1, according to Jim Brown, Cablevision-vice president and regional manager. Brown said Atlanta's WTBS, now carried on Cable-vision Channel 8, would be relocated to another channel if KBGT-TV were put in its slot Brown stressed that WTBS would not be discontinued, as some viewers feared. Residents asked to let landfill dry The Lincoln landfill is bogged down in mud, and officials say anyone driving a vehicle into the dumping site in the next few days could end up in the same condition.

Because of the amount of rain the city has received in the past week, cars and trucks driving into the site are getting stuck, according to Steve Masters, public utilities coordinator. A few of those vehicles have had to be pushed out with a Caterpillar tractor, he said. The dumping area also has been reduced, resulting in a long wait for people wanting to use the landfill Masters said. Although the landfill will remain open, the city is asking people to wait for a few rainless days to dump their trash to give the area time to dry out SHOE CENTERS A i I I 'S' 4'' i v. 4 I p- it 'vs.
