Grand jury indicts 2 for bank robbery OMAHA (AP) Two Texans allegedly involved in the shooting of a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper have been formally accused in a federal grand jury indictment of robbing a Douglas County Bank Trust Co.

branch in Omaha and of kidnapping a Kansas woman to prevent their capture. Maurice G. Kimsey, 47, of Houston, and Robert Swanson, 58, of La Porte, Texas, are accused of conspiracy, bank robbery and use of a weapon during commission of a felony, according to the indictment After leaving Omaha, the men allegedly shot a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper six times at a routine traffic stop and kidnapped a Valley Center, Kan, woman. She escaped. They face separate charges in Kansas on the shooting and kidnapping, but the grand jury in Omaha included the kidnapping and shooting as elements of the conspiracy count The grand jury said the men came to Omaha May 22, stole a car from a used-car lot the next day and robbed the bank May24.

Investigators said a bandit waving a semiautomatic pistol and wearing a baseball cap entered the bank May 24 and told a teller, "Give me the money or rn blow your head off." About $8,000 was taken to the robbery, investigators said. The robbery charge carries a penalty of 10 years to life to prison. The weapons and conspiracy charges each cany a five-year maximum penalty. The slow-moving beast inflicted bruises and a 4-inch cut on Harriett Kimball's right side and she was in stable condition Friday at a Cody, Wyo, hospital "It happened very fast," said Kimball, who lives in Medical Lake, Wash. She said she was photographing an eruption of Old Faithful when she noticed a large bison nearby and slightly behind her. Rodney Bell of Lincoln has resigned as chairperson of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Gay And Lesbian Alumni Association. A 1987 UNL graduate, Bell organized GALA in 1989 and sought, unsuccessfully, to win formal recognition by the NU Alumni Association. Bell said he resigned to focus on other areas of his life. A new chairperson has not been named. He became a member of the Gay-Lesbian Student Association in 1983 and served as its president 1985-87.

During those years, the association grew from a social support group to a formal' resource center. In February 1987, Bell led the group's on-campus distribution of free condoms and informational pamphlets on sexually transmitted diseases. UNL officials sought but did not get an injunction to bar the giveaway. One of the most recent gains for Journal-Star mitring co. For those you love V-' Viv Both you and your loved ones can benefit when funeral arrangements are made well in advance of need.

A carefully planned funeral service can also be the most comforting to your family. It can spare them from facing decisions that can be so difficult-at a time of death. And it can give them the lasting peace of mind of knowing they've acted in accordance with your wishes. We encourage you to discuss your thoughts and decisions with your family and call us if you have additional questions. Autopsy on man, 19, said to be inconclusive An autopsy performed on a 19-year-old man Saturday did not reveal what caused his death and police are awaiting results of laboratory tests for clues, Lincoln police Lt Jim Peschong said.

Toxicology and serology results win not be available until Monday or later, Peschong said. Donald Cleveland, 834 S. 12th St, Apt 3, was found lying fully clothed on his bed by police officers who checked on him after a friend was unable to contact him. Authorities think he may have been dead since Monday, Peschong said. Police were not aware of any illnesses from which Cleveland suffered and are not aware of any prescription medicines he was taking, he said.

There were no signs of a struggle or any other signs of foul play but authorities have not yet ruled out that or other possibilities, Peschong said. rr ar A I iwi Butherus-Maser Love I a mm. 1 J. 1 MM Minm Mascr mB llMNwhr Or WTltc lor QCUU1S bOuupr Mortuary Ml. taNmlA Ned Formerly Hodgmon-Splain-Robem Mortuary Mot I Butheiw ASM 4040 A STREET 4S3-0934 "The Mortuary your family and friends recommend.
