Chronic bronchitis iy occur as a disease by itself, as a nequela following some other disease, or may occur as a manifestation of some more serious disease process involving the lungs.

It is because of these different causes that you should consult your physician to determine the exact nature of your illness and the subsequent treatment. Chronic bronchitis caused by excessive cigarette smoking, for example, has an entirely different cannota-tion than that caused by tuberculosis. Typically in the" chronic bronchitis which is otherwise unassorted, there is cough on arising in the morning with mucus ln the sputum. Blood may occasionally be present in minimal amounts; but even so, spitting blood should, always be investigated by your physician without delay. There is usually no fever, pain, weight loss, or decrease in physical strength.

The sinuses are most usually normal; but the so-called postnasal drip, i.e., a discharge from the nose into the back of the throat, is fairly frequent. Smoking is frequently a significant factor in chronic bronchitis and should be discontinued. Steam inhalation often helps. Attention to even temperatures, humidity, and allergy if it is present may be of some benefit. Poultices and similar preparations applied td the skin over the chest are not generally considered by physicians to be of much value.

Two weeks in Florida helps many but it's not 1007o for curing chronic bronchitis. Some are relieved, some not, and a few tell us they're actually worse. Explorers Cluh held its 51st annual dinner last night with a menu that proved the old rovers may he getting tame. Unlike last year, they ate no fried termites or alligator eggs. This time they settled for such pedestrian hois d'ouevres as: Asparagus tips rolled in ham, with pansies in aspic; scraped raw choice beef, peeled shrimp; raw eggs yolk with capers; "passionsfruit" on smoked caribou; herring pickled in cherry brandy with Spanish onion, and an item titled "mother-in-law," whose ingredients were simply crabmeat salad and marigolds in mayonnaise. The main course, served to the 700 members and their guests in the grand ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria, was "elk polaris." At least one diner was heard marveling, "it tastes an awful lot like Yankee pot roast." There were surprisingly few beards among the explorers last night.

The trend is toward shaving. The club is made up of a great variety people who explore the unknown, big game hunters, undersea travelers, rare animal collectors, archeologists and many others. Some members devote full-time to such pursuits. Others are semi-retired business or professional men. For example, Royal Lowy used to sell girdles and brassieres.

(Mickey) Jelke. Miss Ward was quizzed yesterday by George W. Herz, attorney for the 25-year-old Jelke, being tried for allegedly recruiting her for cafe society prostitution.

The defense has been dwelling on the theme that Miss Ward was an experienced girl-about-town before she met Jelke. Yesterday before Judge Francis L. Valcnte and a jury, Herz asked Miss Ward about her activities after she and Jelke split up in Miami Beach in March, 1952. Miss Ward has admitted having $50 to $100 sex dates with many cafe society playbovs.

but claims Jelke forced her into the dates. for retired people ho are seeking friends. The association, in its recently published Trailer Park Guide for 1955-56, points out that space rentals in the parks run from $10 a month up to $120. There are many in the $25-535 class. Availability of electric, water and sewer connections, location, and closeness to stores, restaurants, determine the rentals.

Most retired people are buying mobile homes that' are tip to 35 feet in length. Those 40 and longer are increasing in number, while 50-footers are not uncommon. The association explains that trailer prices range from $2,000 to $7,000. Down payments usually are about one third, with payments extending up to four years. If you think the mobile home life is the life for you.

the smartest thing you can do is visit a place like Rradenton and spend a week or so around the park. Seek out people who seem to be like yourself and ask questions. (You'll find them all friendly.) Only then can you intelligently make up your mind. It's not exactly paradise to live in a trailer because regulations on them differ from state to state. Also, 65-year-old minds and muscles grow weary of wrestling with a machine, and it's always a nuisance to have to hire a sewer connection at every stop.

But then nothing else is paradise either. However, there are some assets to it. A mobile home is about the cheapest home there is. You can move it. And for the wife, who has a right to retire, too, it's a lot easier to clean than an eight-room frame house in Connecticut.

It also enables many people to hold to their permanent, homes, which can be rented while you are off seeing the country. By THOMAS COI.I.INS An increasing number of people in the "over-50" bracket are coming down with attacks of a disease known as traileritis. The open road, a shiny trailer hooked on the hack of the car, and vou barreling off to a win ter under the palm trees This is a dream for the later years of lile that most people can't entirely escape. At least once or twice before retirement finally comes, they debate chucking all their careful plans for security and going out to price some trailers. You ought to have some information on the subject around the house for when you feel such an attack coming on.

Here are a facts: According to th Mobile Homes Manufacturers Association, about 2 million people now live in trailers, which, in modern parlance, are referred to as mobile homes. About 10fr of 1his number, or 200,000, are retired people. MOST WANT TO SKE OOl'XTRY Opportunity to move around in retirement and see the country was the main factor influencing them to buy trailers, yet the trend for those seeking the mobile life is away from mobility. Most people are seeking out some of the country's 11.000 or so trailer parks and settling down to stay for a while. The average visit of retired people in a trailer park is one year.

Most retired trailerites head for the sun, with Florida, California and the Southwest getting the majority. Bradenton, with spaces for 1,183 mobile homes, is the largest and best-known trailer park in the country. It is exclusively for those in retirement and has a well-organized recreation program that has made it a messa WILL BE YOUR COMPLETE SUNDAY STAR I' l- I' 1 7 Ti Its Wi.
