I talk to them and write to them, not down to them. "I say what they are feeling the way Alice said what I was feeling." As with groups such as Kiss and ACDC, Twisted Sister is one of those rock groups music fans either love or despise. That's okay with Snider as long as they react "We thrive on reaction," Snider said. "A negative reaction is better than no reaction at all. We prefer the positive but you "get the extremes.

"When you're the kind of band people hate intensely, then you get the kind of people who also love you intensely. We despise people who sit on the fence. It's all or nothing. Love us or hate "us." Although the group is still in the growing stages and has yet to gather enough funds for a blown-out theatrical stage presentation, Twisted Sister does its best on stage to overwhelm its audiences. The band members are constantly moving and expect their crowds to do the same.

"We demand that people participate," said Snider. "I want them to move. I want their fists in the air. I like Jon Anderson from Yes who says. Cpme on.

Jump up and down. Go "The fan thinks, 'Why should I go crazy? You aint going crazy, They know they can go crazy with us because we are going crazy on stage." Other members of the band include guitarist-vocalist Jay Jay French, guitarist-vocalist Eddie "Fingers" Ojeda, bassist Mark "The Animal" Mendoza and drummer-vocalist A. J. Pero. Then again, Alice never had to put up with some of the rigors of video shooting. For example, before Snider's call from New York City, the band had just finished a 21 hour day of shooting a new video for "I Wanna Rock," a followup to its successful "We're Not Gonna Take It." Both songs are from the band's current "Stay Hungry" LP. "I feel like I've played a solid weekend of football," Snider said. "I'll bet I've had 12 hours sleep in the last three or four days." The video was shot at a school in New York and costarred Mark Metcalf, the belligerent father in the "We're Not Gonna Take It" video and the actor who portrayed Doug Neidermeyer in "National Lampoon's Animal House." The video called for extras and nearly 1,000 answered the call.

A crowd began" gathering the night before the shoot, but because of the technical delays, the "students" weren't needed until about midnight. "We lost about half of them but I was literally moved by the number that stayed," Snider said. "A lot of them stayed when we needed them the next day, too. "Our fans are hardcore. I don't think a Culture Club fan would do that." beyond where Close I 1 By ZACH DUNKIN The spirit of Alice Cooper lives tn the heart of rock's latest version bf the bizarre.

Again, back to Alice Cooper, he was into that: Makeup on stage, no makeup off stage." Fortunate to be thriving in the era of rock videos, Snider feels sorry for acts such as Cooper and Kiss who never had MTV or commercial TV video programs to display their theatrics.
