Boys arrested in bomb case Lincoln police arrested two boys, ages 14 and 15, at their homes Sunday afternoon in connection with two pipe bomb incidents that occurred Dec. 7.

Police LL Ron Bruder said a tip to the police led to the arrests. In the first bombing, a small bomb exploded early Dec. 7 inside a pickup truck parked in the driveway of a house in the Air Park area. The bomb did $1,000 damage to the truck. Later in the day, a student found a bomb inside a first-floor office at Ferguson Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.

Fire officials detonated the device at a bomb disposal site. Fire officials said both bombs were made with copper tubing that was about 4 inches long and half an inch wide. A fuse and gunpowder and pellets, possibly from shotgun shells, were stuffed inside the tubing. Bruder said officers did not find any of the bomb materials at the boys' homes Sunday afternoon.
