POST Dear Mrs. Post: My employer's mother passed away. When visiting the family of the bereaved, do I just offer my sympathy to the children of the deceased and not to the Inlaws mesning my employer's wife and his sisters-in-law! I always thought it customary to offer expressions of sympathy to all the family, be it in-laws or direct family, but was told recently that this was wrong. To make it clearer, I was told to say nothing to my employer's wife when I see her in view of the fact that it was not her mother who passed away. Just to say "Hello, how are you?" This does not seem right to me.

May I hear from you reagard-ing this matter? Christine Dear Christine: In-laws are often just as close (or even closer) to a member of their spouse's family as the blood relative. They may feel the loss just as strongly as their husband or wife. Therefore, I feel that in-laws should be included in expressions of sympathy unless you know there was no love lost between them and the deceased. In your case, I would certainly say to your employer's wife, "I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Johnson's mother." Dear Mrs.

Post: I am getting married In July and my mother and I would like to have a bridal dance, but my future in laws and my fiance are against it. Is it traditional to have a bridal dance? What is your opinion about this? Debra Dear Debra: I am not quite sure what you mean by a "bridal dance." If you mean a wedding reception with yes, that is traditional and correct. If you are talking about having the bride and groom do a "solo" dance at the reception, that is also correct before the general danc ing starts. If neither of these sit uations is what you are referring to, please write again and describe exactly what you mean by a "bridal dance." St Joe To Get 2000 Gallons Of Gasoline ST.
