Amm 21, 1970 THE INDIANAPOLIS NEWS Fait IS FRIDAY TV PROGRAMS GRIN AND BEAR IT By Lichty rum listen Dirllrtt Time (C) CtM There'll Be A Delay In City's ETV Station Shirley MacLaine has been an item for the past couple of years with newsman Sander Vanocur. For the past 16 years, the 36-year-old actress has been married to Steve Parker, who resides in Japan. Shirley keeps her home base in Hollywood. By RICHARD K. SHULL Indianapolis educational TV station, WFYI, Channel 20, won't be on the air here Sept 8 as planned, but the operators still are hopeful of getting it launched sometime in September.

"There's no panic button, but we have had a little trouble," Ben Huddleson, the station's program director, said. Among the problems are the usual bugs in getting the factory -new transmitter in operation, and some rebuilding SHULL'S MAILBAG JUfDW It To Tell The Another World- bomer Drk Shadowi Truth (() Somerset (C) USMC(C) (C) Popeye(C) Mike Douglas Early Show (0 Bewitched (() (C) "lawless Breed" Western Stir Theater Skippy The Marshal Dillon Kangaroo (C) TTufhirtoiv" News(C) News ((. These delays probably will wipe out some of the tentative plans for the station which had included a sort of festival of the best non-commercial TV programs from the past.

The national interconnection for live ETV programs over the NET (National Education Television) network won't crank up until early October. As for the programming, at the moment Shull "Never mind going into matters of deep religious beliefs and conscience This report on your flat feet makes that unnecessary!" 7:30 45 :00 1015 45 :00 :45 Mae I'm really wild about Mae West. Could you tell me about her. Like, is she married? Where was she bom and raised? What is her permanent address? JIM P. GILLETT The dear girl turned 78 last Monday.

She's a native of Brooklyn where she took her one and only husband 60 years ago. Shortly after her marriage, she fled to Paris and the Folies Bergere. So much for Mae and marriage. Now, she spends most of her time in her Hollywood apartment which she has had since the good old days when she and W. C.

Fields cut a wide swath across the silver screen. Her mail address is her beach house: 511 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica, Cal. Enzo? What happened to Enzo Cerusico? I heard he was going to have his own show, called the "Mr. Enzo" show. Is this right? R.K.M.

He'll be back, but when is uncertain. Sheldon Leonard is SATURDAY TV PROGRAMS Celee Mae West attempting to develop just the right sort of show for him. Nothing definite. Sheriff My friend and I are having an argument over the sheriff on the Everly Brothers' show. Is he the same man who plays the sheriff on the Dodge commercials? I say he isn't.

A.F. You're wrong. Joe Higgins is the one and only. Mac Love Macdonald Carey when he sings and dances on Art Linkletter's show, and as an actor. Can you tell me how old he is? M.M.H.

57. the only thing Huddleson can promise is that WFYI will commence the outstanding "Forsyte Saga" series shortly after the station gets on the air. He said the single outstanding show of the past season, a 2-hour and 15-minute version of the stage play, "The Anderson-ville Trial," won't be seen here until later in the year when the i NET network plans to rerun it. The station, nearly two decades aborning, is being financed by private donations, large donations of cash and equipment from the city's commercial TV stations, a government grant, and from a women's door-to-door campaign which netted much of the first year's operating expenses of $350,000. SAY, CAN YOU SEE? As the time draws near for the station to begin broadcasting, the question rises of who will be able to receive the signal.

According to the latest estimates, made last spring, about 75 per cent, or 238,700, of the TV set3 in the Indianapolis area are equipped with ultra-high frequency tuners capable of receiving the UHF channels 14 to 82. Without a UHF tuner on the set, Channel 20 cannot be received. Then there's the matter of antennas. The UHF frequencies require a slightly different antenna than for the VHF (Channels 2 through 13) spectrum. There's really no way of telling in advance what a given set in a given household will require to get a good signal from 'f WFYI.

Sets located within line-of-sight from the transmitter on the far northside probably will receive a good signal with only VHF indoor rabbit ears. Huddleson reckons most of the sets in Indianapolis will be able to get a good signal with a UHF ring or bow-tie antenna attached to the set. Combination VHF-UHF indoor aerials which combine the traditional rabbit ears with the UHF ring are available for as little as $12.95. In areas across town from the transmitter, an outdoor UHF antenna probably will be required. "It probably will take some adjustments by a serviceman to get the tuner and antenna set right," Huddleson predicted.

"You really won't know until the station is on the air and you try Jhis That Dave Garroway, the host of the "Today" show for 10 years, and, more recently host of a TV talk show in Boston, has moved to Los Angeles where he'll preside over a local radio show for three hours each afternoon. DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (AP) In his Gary, home, Johnny Lewis was watching a television special called "Migrant," but he wasn't really interested "until I heard this voice." The voice was that of a migrant farm worker living in wretched conditions, and it was the voice of Lewis' father he hadn't seen in 15 years. Lewis contacted Chet Huntley, narrator of the NBC show, to ask how he could locate his father, "send him some money and fly down to get him." The request wound up in the Vigoro Winter Gar is specially formulated for fall feeding that gives winter protection for your lawn. Designed for Midwest soils. Covers 5,000 sq.

From Delray Beach where he lived with his wife, i Pearl, and their six children at the time of the filming, he had moved to a shabby house in Boynton Beach. While he was there, Miss West had gone to see him to help get a job, "but he had found some farm work for that day so I missed him. The next thing I learned was that he had moved to Indiantown." After receiving the son's request, Miss West tracked the father down in an Indiantown camp and "he was pretty excited." Lewis and his son drifted apart when their work crews split in the '50s.
