UMvcrtiKmeoU HERE'S A YALE TALE WITH A KICK IN IT NEW HAVEN, Oct. 13 (AP) Coach Howie O'Dell, of Yale, got a big kick today out of a story told him about his kicking specialist, Bill (One Shot) Booe, but confessed he wouldn't have enjoyed it the Columbia game last Saturday. Booe, whose sight isn't perfect although it's hard to tell from the way he kicks those extra points for the Elis, wears contact lens. Just before going on the field for the Columbia contest, he recalled he had forgotten to take his lens to New York.

Keeping this secret to himself, he went out and booted a field goal from the 25-yard line, and converted after both of Yale's touchdowns, as the Blue beat the Lions, 17-7. It wasn't until last night that O'Dell heard about it. Said O'Dell, "That Booe just boots 'em automatically, I guess." PASSENGERS Of every dollar taken in by the Illinois Central last year, 14H came from passengers. Some 54 million of them were sped to their destinations by trains which traveled a total of 11 million miles. For this service, passengers last year paid an average fare of 1.9(1 per mile.

This was one-third less than the average paid 25 years ago although operating costs nearly doubled in the same period. Yet Illinois Central passengers have enjoyed ever better service. Today, fast, luxurious, streamline trains cover some 2,000 Illinois Central miles. Finer service for passengers will continue to be basic Illinois Central policy. For we are determined to earn your continued friendship and patronage.
