Slippo asked Uncle Wiggily, "So we can entertain the children in the towns around the Orange Ice Mountain?" "I have an idea," Uncle Wiggily declared, his nose twinkle and twiddle, making, meaning he was thinking about as as anyone can possibly think.

"It may work, and it may not." "What is it?" Ha-ha the cat asked eagerly, "I'll tell you when we get there. have to do a little more thinking about it," Uncle gily said. On and on went, with Jackie limping because of they, his sore foot. And pretty soon they saw the circus. It was a sight, I can tell you.

The beautiful circus wagons, where the performers ate and slept, which were painted white with big yellow and orange stripes and stuck with gold tops, were so deeply in the mud that you couldn't even see the wheels of the wagons. And all around the wagons stood the animal performers the horses, the giraffs, the monkies, the squirrels, the performing dogs, the acrobatic pigs, the tight-rope-walking kittens, and Ha-ha-s mother and father -the cats who stood on their front paws. And they all looked disconsolate, which is a big word meaning sad. "My!" exclaimed Uncle Wiggily. "That circus is stuck, all right! It's about the stuckest circus that I ever saw stuck." Just then Womarmag the Hippo, who was manager of the circus, saw Uncle Wiggily and the others and waddled over to speak to them.

"Hello," he said in a deep voice and jolly big mouth. "Hello, Slippo! I see you brought some friends with you. "Yes, and I'm here, too!" Haha called out. "You? Who are you?" asked the hippo, because he didn't recognize with the baseball a cap on. But Ha-ha took off the baseball cap, hippo looked into his eyes and began to laugh: "Har-umph! Har-umph!" which is the way hippos, laugh, and then he recognized the cat fast enough.

Ha-ha put the cap back on SO Womarmag could stop laughing. At that moment Ha-ha's mother and father saw their cat, and they ran over and gave him some big hugs, and Mr. Standpaw, Ha-ha's daddy, gave him such a big hug that his cap fell off, and everyone started to laugh all together, and Ha-ha had to put his cap back on quickly, because Uncle Wiggily wanted to tell about his idea for getting the circus out of the mud. And as soon as all the wagons were harnessed to the grapevines, and all the animals held the other ends of the vines, Uncle Wiggily called to Ha-ha: "Now, Ha-ha, you come out here in front, where everyone can see you, and when I say you take your cap off, and when I say you put it on again. All ready?" Ha-ha got out in front, and all the animals were ready with the vines in their paws. Uncle Wiggily yelled: "Off!" and Haha yanked his cap off. laughed all the animals, and as they laughed they gave a big pull on the vines, and the wagons moved.
