Gold Silver Prices By Associated Press Gold and silver prices per troy ounce today: Gold: Silver: GRIN and BEAR IT by FRED WAGNER "It's spring, boys when young man's fancy turns to renegotiating his contract!" Lester Irons, 75, Indianapolis, an attorney for the Barnes and Thornburg law firm, died yesterday in Methodist Hospital. Before joining Barnes, Hickam, Pantzer and Boyd law firm now Barnes and Thornburg Irons worked for General American Life Insurance in St. Louis and Shell Oil in New York. He joined the law firm here in 1945. A graduate of Indiana State University, Irons received his law degree from the University of Michigan School of Law.

Before attending law school, he taught at Manilla High School. Former chairman of the board. of trustees for both Methodist tal and Indiana Central University, Irons had served on the board for United Fund and was a former board member of Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Indiana. Lester Irons 1954 He was a former board member of Lacy Diversified Industries. An active member of North United Methodist Church, Irons was a former president of the church's board of trustees and former chairman of the finance committee and administrative board.

He had served on the church's planning and pastor parish committees and formerly taught Sunday school. Robert Gardner Dies At Age 57 Robert Gardner, 57, founder and board chairman of Gardner Box at Seymour, died yesterday at his Indianapolis home. Gardner, who founded the box in 1961, was a member of company Seymour Industrial Board. A World War II Army veteran, Gardner was graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and Army War College and became a brigadier general in the Army Reserve. His commands included the 451st Army Field Depot and serving as chief of staff.

He later was named deputy commander of the 123rd Army Reserve Command. He received commendation and meritorious medals from the Army Reserve. Active in Sigma Chi Fraternity, Gardner was a member of Indiana University Chapter House Corp. and was president and founder of Hanover College Sigma Chi. House Chapter Corp.

He was a former president of Indianapolis Sigma Chi Alumni As- Mrs. Eathyl Giles Eathyl Wonetta Giles, 78, Indianapolis, died yesterday in St. Francis Hospital. Mrs. Giles formerly was a secretary at Abundant Life Church and last worked in the circulation department at The News and The Star.

She retired in 1972. She was a member of Hansen Park Christian Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Little Sons Funeral Home, Beech Grove, where friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m.. Sunday.

Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. Survivor son Leonard Leach. Mrs. Gerald O'Neal Mrs. Gerald (Margaret Ann) O'Neal, 40, Indianapolis, died yesterday at St.

Vincent Hospital. She was a former president of the women's auxiliary for Pike Township Volunteer Fire Department and was active in youth sports. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Conkle Speedway Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St.

Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Friends may, call from 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow to 9 Sunday. Burial will be in North p.m. Liberty Cemetery.

Ernest Sundermeier Services for Ernest Sundermeier, 84, Indianapolis, will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow in Greene Harrell Funeral Home, Bloomington, where friends may call until 9 tonight. Sundermeier, who died Wednesday in Community Hospital, was a rate clerk for the Illinois Central Railroad 45 years. He retired in 1965.

He was a former president of the Church Federation of Indianapolis. He helped start and served as president until recently of the InterChurch Center. The Indiana Bar Association honored Irons with its Cinch Strap award for his efforts as chairman of its group legal services committee, which later established the Indiana Legal Services Fund, involving a group legal services plan. Services for Paul Jolliff, 73, former Decatur County sheriff and coroner, will be at 10:30 a.m.

tomorrow in GillilandHowe Funeral Home. Jolliff, a lifelong resident of Decatur County, died Wednesday in his home. He had been sheriff of Decatur County and later had been county coroner 24 years. He had worked at Batterton's Drugstore 42 years, retiring in 1970. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of Sandusky United Methodist Church, Fraternal Order of Police, Milroy Order of Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge and American Legion.

Rites Tomorrow For Adah Hill Memorial services for Adah Hill, 85, former teacher and principal in Indianapolis, will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Chapel of the First Flag at Washington Park East Cemetery. Miss Hill, who died Monday at her home in Cleveland, was a teacher for Indianapolis Public Schools 16 years, serving as principal of Schools 122, 58 and 60.

She was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon music sorority, Shaker Heights (Ohio) Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and First Unitarian Church of Cleveland. Mrs. Harry Nichols Services for Mrs. Harry (Josephine) Nichols, 89, Indianapolis, who died Wednesday in Marion County Health Care Center, will be at 9:45 a.m.

A groundbreaking ceremony has been set for May 4 for the $11.4 million rerouting of Washington Street, including a new bridge over White River.

The ceremony will be at 10 a.m. on the south side of Washington Street between California and Blackford, near Howard Johnson's hotel. The road is being relocated to make way for the new Indianapolis Zoo, which will be the largest feature in White River State Park.
