The semiannual appropriating ordinance, in which the estimates of the head of the various departments under the Board of Public Service are set forth, was formally approved by that board yesterday. Her maiden name was given as Fubr and her husband's as William Pewthers. Inquiry at Portsmouth developed that Mamie J. Pewthers some time ago, through her attorney, Judge Calvert, fled suit for divorce from William Pewthers, but that N. W. Evans, sitting as referee, refused to grant the divorce.

Mrs. Pewthers is the daughter of Prot. Fuhr, formerly Superintendent of the pubito schools at Portsmouth, Detweiler, when seen by an ENQUIRER reporter last evening, admitted that his wife had been married to Pewthers, but said she was under the impression that she had been granted a divorce. He said she has gone to Portsmouth to visit a relative, who 18 sick. He also admitted that Fisher, the name she gave when they were married, was an assumed name, and that he knew her by the name of Fuhr.

He says she regresented to him that she had obtained divorce at Portsmouth. NO PENSION May Be Allowed Fireman Bland's Widow -New Engine House.
