AMUSEMENTS. Grand Opera O. P. HELM, Manager. They Are Coming.

John Armstrong, of DoSmefc, une of the moat extensive and best known breeders of pure blood horses in the Northwest, was in the city on Friday. In talking with a HURONITE repre- sentative Mr. Armstrong said that his business is rapidly increasing, there being an nnusual demand for better grades of horses for farm use. He has made nnmerons sales at fair figures and chiefly for cash, indicat- ing that farmers in this part of South Dakota have money. Referring to the arrival of new settlers Mr.

Arm- strong said: Within the past four months more new settlers--actual farmers, have purchased land and taken op their abode along the east line of Beadle and west line of Kingsbory counties than for four years past. Not less than fifteen families have come to the locality named, nearly all of them from IOWR. They brought with them stock, farm implements, and are arranging to put every acre possible to crop the coming season. There is a lively demand for cheap lands and relinqaishments. Those already here say others are anxious to come but cannot dispose of their eastern pos- sessions to advantage.

Mr. Armstrong predicts a large im- migration the coming seasoa and be- lieves the wave of prosperity that swept over this commonwealth last fall, will be followed by one of great- er magnitude all through 1S92. He has great a i in South Dakota. 1 Otli. BEACH BOWERS Brass Band and Orchestra.

The Grand was tilled last evening from the front boxes to the back gal- lery with an audience that was de- lighted for two solid hours without hitch or halt by the Baach Bowers burnt cork galaxy of mirth, music and mystery. The curtain never went down from overture to finale. There wasn't an encore nor a drag allowed in the performance. The whole ar- rangement was new, even the chest- nuts being of this year's crop. The programme opened with a novelty, and kept up its lick to the close, There is no use in attempting to pick out features for special mention; the whole show waa prime, surpassing a i in the minstrel line that ev- er visited this section, and setting a pattern i which any subsequent troupe will be Falls Daily Press.

At Grand opera house Wednesday, February ICkh. The Masonic fraternity will soon turn their goat onto the owners of the Alliance building for failure to stop the leaks iu the roof. Water had discolored the ceiling and walls, ruined the handsome Brussels car- pets and damaged the lodge room i to considerable extent. "They are after me" exclaimed Uncle Jerry Elson as he broke the seal on invitation No. 17 for the leap year party.

Jerry goes only to please his lady escort, hear the music, see the crowd, eat supper, have a good time, and--dance. Under no other conditions could he be induced to make one of the merry throng that will gather in the Grand opera house this evening. Attorney John M. Davis came home yesterday from a two weeks' tour in the east and north parts of the state. In every locality visited Mr.

Davis says he found the people in the very best of spirits, and heard never a word of complaint. The "calamity howlers" are fast becoming things of the past, and prosperity abounds ev erywhere. New settlers are coming in, and many of those who left two or three years ago are finding their way back to their farms and arranging for putting a large acreage to crop the coming spring. A more contented and happy lot of people than those with whom Mr. Davis came in con tact on his late trip do not grace any state.
