Scott Yost ran back two punts 70 and 55 yards for touchdowns Friday night to lead fourth-ranked Grand Island over lOth-ranked Fremont 10-14 in a key Class A matchup at Fremont. Fremont running back Mark Voss scored on two 1-yard touchdown runs in the first half to stake Fremont to a 14-13 half time lead. The Tigers held Grand Island to only 30 yards total offense and one first down in the first half, but the Islanders scored on a 64-yard run from scrimmage in the third quarter for the victory. Wilber 7, Wymore Southern 6 Tim Ryan scored from one yard out at the beginning of the fourth quarter and Scott Zlab converted the PAT to lift Wilber to a narrow, come-from-behind victory over Wymore Southern at Wilber. After Norfolk drove 70 yards In 10 plays to tie the game at 10-all with 7:35 left in the third quarter, it appeared Southeast wouldn't get a chance to score, just running two offensive plays in the fourth quarter.

But a 36-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Todd Johnson with 7:16 left in the game put the Knights ahead 17-10. Southeast took a 10-3 half-. time lead on a 26-yard field goal by Kightlinger and a two-yard run by Jon Kelley. Kelley, who finished with 94 yards on 18 carries, ran seven times for 34 yards and grabbed a 38-yard screen pass to ignite an 80-yard scoring drive that put the Knights ahead 7-3 with 1:47 left in the first half. Kelley also set up Klghtlin-ger's 26-yard field goal with one second left in the half.

As a result, "the blocking here is big-time," Williams said. "Nobody on this team is afraid to stick his head in there and block" He acknowledges his primary concern as a tight end is to block, and he's "had a lot of fun blocking at Auburn and Colorado." In fact, Williams wouldn't mind spending "85 percent" of his time in a game blocking. He's just hoping the other 15 percent can be spent doing something else like catching passes.

"I work hard at catching passes everyday in practice," said Williams. He's got nothing against offensive tackles; he just doesn't want to be mistaken for one.
