Ridge was sentenced in March 1986 to two weeks in prison, six weeks of work release and 100 hours of community service. Walsh said the appeal is based on an allegation that one of the jurors Anatole Budzarsky misrepresented himself during the jury selection process. The appeal petition contended Budzarsky said "no" when he was asked if he had any police associations or knew any police officers. In a sworn statement, Roger Widows, a deputy in the Cook County Sheriff's Department, claimed that Budzarsky associated with him and 11 other policemen who were in his U.S. Army Reserve unit.

Ridge was seeking a new trial on federal charges that he violated the civil rights of Gregory David Moore, a convicted child molester. In November 1985, a jury convicted Ridge and three other officers Timothy Crose, Gerald Poppers and Kurt Madsen of the January 1983 beating of Moore while he was in custody at the Sauk Village police station. Walsh said he will file a petition in about two weeks asking the U.S.

Supreme Court to hear Ridge's case. The lawyer said it will be about three months before the high court makes a decision on whether to hear the case. Walsh said Ridge already has served the sentence imposed by U.S. District Court Judge Marvin Aspin, but that Ridge doesn't believe he NOTICE FOR BIDDERS Notice is hereby given that Indiana Vocational Technical College Northwest, located at 1440 East 35th Avenue, Gary, Indiana 46409, Is accepting sealed bids for Electronics Technology Instructional Equipment. Hernandez, who testified against Ramos, said he then returned to the bar and sold the drug to the agents, later giving $1,500 of the sale price to Ramos. HAMMOND A Gary man has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for taking part in the sale of cocaine to undercover federal agents a year ago. Manuel Ramos, 44, 4941 Vermont also was ordered by U.S. District Court Judge James Moody to serve a special parole term of three years an extended period of supervision applicable only to persons convicted of narcotics offenses. A Jury convicted Ramos on Nov. 18 of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute it.

Jurors found that Ramos supplied cocaine to Nelson Hernandez, of East Chicago, who sold it to the Runaway hotline used by pimp line the number of a pay phone at the Port Authority bus terminal, then waited for calls, Ritter said. "These pimps are animals, they're barely human," said Ritter, who keeps armed guards at the shelter 24 hours a day to keep pimps away. "Anyone who would try to merchandise young kids like that, it's outside the pale of human compassion." Officials of the hot line never checked with Covenant House to see if the change was legitimate, said John Kells, Ritter's assistant. A man who answered the hot line Monday night referred calls to a supervisor who was to be available later today. NEW YORK (AP) Runaways trying to phone a Times Square shelter probably found themselves talking to a pimp who had rerouted the calls to him at a bus station as a way to recruit young prostitutes, shelter officials say.

"We have no way of knowing how many kids called that number and got picked up" in the three weeks before the scam was detected, said the Rev. Bruce Ritter, founder and director of Covenant House, which puts up about 200 young people each night. Ritter and his aides said a pimp apparently called a runaway hot line, identified himself as a Covenant House official and said the shelter's phone number had been changed. He gave the hot.
