Nebraska nimrods have had pheasants and ducks, but the Sunday when every man with a will don his hunting togs. Best duck hunting has been reported along the North Platte river. SUM IT UP Lytle's field men got together last week decided where they thought hunting would be best, and a reprint of their selections might be of some value: Northeast Nebraska: Most pheasants in Knox, Pierce, Wayne and Cedar counties; ducks on bordering Knox, Cedar and Thurston. East central: Pheasants most plentiful in Cuming, Burt and Dodge; ducks in Burt, Washington and Sarpy. Southwest corner: Pheasants in Dundy, Chase and Perkins; ducks in Chase and Dundy. Western part: Pheasants in Scottsbluff, Morrill, Garden, Cheyenne and Deuel; ducks in Scottsbluff, Morrill and Garden.

Northwest corner: Pheasants along irrigation ditches in Sioux; ducks in sand hill lakes in southern Sheridan, West central: Pheasants in Logan, Lincoln and Keith; ducks in Keith and Lincoln. North central: Pheasants in Rock, Keya Paha and Brown; ducks in same counties. Sand hill area: Both pheasants and ducks in Cherry. Central: Pheasants in Greeley, Howard, Valley, Buffalo, Dawson, Phelps, Kearney and Gosper: ducks in Garfield, Wheeler, Loup, Blaine, Howard and -Valley. Southeast: Ducks in Richardson and Nemaha, Nemaha, Richardson, Johnson and Pawnee counties are closed for pheasants.

A Chicago group reserves most of the available space at Broken and Grand Island hotels were crowded on the eve of the season's opening. It was the same at most of the good areas. NEW COMMISSIONER. Most of those in the know are complimenting Gov.

Griswold on his appointment of Arthur Storz of Omaha as game commissioner, the appointment to take effect in January. Mr. Storz has been a tireless worker for the state's wild life for years, and might even qualify as Nebraska's No. 1 hunter. Altho not a member of the commission, Storz has done almost as much as anyone in the state to better hunting conditions.

He will be a valuable addition to the commission, but he'll have to be if he surpasses the work of the man he is succeeding, Dr. H. C. Zellers of Lincoln. BEATRICE CHAPTER Delegations from Lincoln and Fairbury attended meeting last week of Beatrice chapter of the Nebraska Better Fishing organization.

The Gage county organization has grown to 70 members. William Lytle, Dr. H. C. Zellers, a game commissioner and Charles Anderson of the Nebraska Wildlife Federation, were also present and Dr.

Zellers told Beatrice members that the state owned lake at Alexandria will be fixed up by the end of the month and stocked for fishing. Scottsbluff and South Omaha are showing a good deal of inerest in the fishing group, according to Dick Wait, Lincoln secretary. Wait conducted his own personal tour of fishermen along the Blue river and of 52 queries concerning the new throw line regulations, found 36 anglers against any kind of throw lines, ten in favor of the present law, and six against it. Doloway, standing in his end zone, punted to Bradley, who fumbled but recovered, and got back to the Husker 41. NEBRASKA: Francis cracked the Hoosier right side for 2.

Bradley swung off -tackle for 6. Francis got 1 1n the middle. Bradley, punted 45 to Saban, who came back to the Indiana. 20. INDIANA: Doloway skirted the right side for 3, Zikmund nailing him.

Hillenbrand tried the other side for 11 and a first down on the 34. Jacoby slipped and fell, failing to gain. Jacoby found 7 at the Husker right side. Von Goetz WAS thru to spill Jacoby for a 2 yard loss. Doloway kicked into the Husker end zone for a touchback, and the Huskers scrimmaged from their own 20.

NEBRASKA: Nash stopped Bradley for a 1 yard loss. Bradley shot a pass to Zikmund for 3, Trimble bringing him down. Bradley booted the ball to Hillenbrand, who came back to the Husker 47, where Meier raced him out of bounds. INDIANA: Jacoby got 3 on an end run before Zikmund hit him, Hillebrand punched off-tackle for 3. On take spinner, Hillebrand flipped the ball to Jacoby, who sped to a first down on the Nebraska 34.

Hillenbrand hit the center for 1, and Indiana took out time. Hazen came in for Kathol at end for Nebraska. A pass, Hillenbrand to Smith, was incomplete. Hillenbrand's flip, intended for Jacoby, was also incomplete. Indiana's backfield was in motion, but Nebraska declined the penalty.

Hillenbrand punted out of bounds on the Nebraska 27. NEBRASKA: R. White replaced Doloway in the Indiana backfield. Bradley faked a punt to Zikmund and picked up 8. Bradley's Hazen was too long, and incomplete.

The Huskers took out time. Von Goetz was injured on the play, and Duda replaced him. Athey fumbled on a quar terback sneak, but Bradley recovered for a 2 yard loss. Moeller took over Tavener's pivot post for Indiana. Deviney replaced Abel at right guard for the Huskers.

Bradley punted to Jacoby, who fumbled, but Hillenbrand picked up the ball, and raced back to the Indiana 24, where Meier caught "INDIANA: Herbert replaced Saban quarter for the Hoosiers. Bradley punted to Hillenbrand, who came back 6 to the Indiana 37. INDIANA: R. White gained 3 on a plunge. Jacoby employed a reverse to pick up a first down on the Nebraska 42. The play was called back, however, and Indiana drew a 15 yard penalty for holding.

Kathol of Nebraska. and Doloway of Indiana came back into the game. Byler replaced Schleich at Nebraska's left tackle. Zikmund intercepted Jacoby's pass on the Indiana 38. NEBRASKA: Bradley's pass to Athey was good for 2.

Herbert stopped him. Zikmund started wide on a reverse, then cutback over the Indiana left side, and crossed the goal line standing up after a 37 yard jaunt. SCORE: NEBRASKA 6, INDIANA 0. Francis' placekick was wide. NEBRASKA 6, INDIANA 0.

Metheny, Debus and Simmons entered the Nebraska backfield. Francis kicked off 60 to Hillenbrand, who brought the ball back 26 to the Indiana 26. INDIANA: The quarter ended before the Hoosiers could get a play off. SCORE: NEBRASKA 6, INDIANA 0. SECOND QUARTER.

Marvin Thompson came in at end for Nehraska, and Martig took over right tackle duties. Zimny and Swihart were Indiana substitutions. Swihart got 3 at the Husker right side, Francis and Simmons pouncing on him. Hillenbrand slipped off-tackle for 3 more before Deviney stopped him. Swihart rammed Martig's tackle for 2.

Doloway punted, 48 to Debus, who was downed on his own 20. NEBRASKA: Hasapes came in for Nash at end for the Hoosiers. Debus failed to gain at Steele's guard. Debus rolled off-tackle for 3. Bell came in for Trimble at Indiana's left tackle.

Francis punted to Hillenbrand, who fought his way back to, the Indiana 48. INDIANA: Doloway got 1 at the right side. faded back to pass, but couldn't get the ball away. and the Hoosiers were penalized 15 for an intentional grounding of a pass. Kelly replaced Game Captain Meier for Nebraska.

Doloway punted to Debus, who came back to the Nebraska 30. It was a 15 yard return. NEBRASKA: Nebraska drew 15 yard penalty for clipping, putting it back to its own 12. Debus broke loose for 43 and a first down on the Indiana 45. Debus picked up 2 over his own right guard.

Indiana took out time. Trimble came back in at tackle for the Hoosiers. Saban also was inserted into the Indiana lineup. Debus' pass to Kathol, plus lateral to Metheny made only 1. Debus pass to Thompson was incomplete.

Nebraska drew 15 yard penalty for defensive pass interference. Blue punted to Hillenbrand, who raced back 23 to the Indiana 31. INDIANA: Doloway's pass was partially blocked, the ball bounding into the air, and Blue of Nebraska recovered on the Hoosier 37. NEBRASKA: Saban was thru to spill Metheney for 3 yard loss. Metheney was rushed and threw wild pass which Saban intercepted, and got back to the Nebraska 46.

INDIANA: Hillenbrand made scant yard at the middle. Hillenbrand's long flip to Saban was incomplete. Indiana's backfield was in motion on the play, but Nebraska was guilty of Interference, and the play WAS cancelled. Harrell replaced Saban, who was injured on the play. Hillenbrand's pass to! Smith was good for first down on the Husker 33.

Metheny made the tackle. Doloway failed to find receiver, and circled the Husker right side for 10 and a first down on the Nebraska 23. Hillenbrand roamed off-tackle for 11 and first down on the Husker 12. Coach Biff Jones rushed his first team back into the game. Jacoby found 4 on an end run before Zikmuna stopped him.

Hillenbrand plunged for more. Doloway cracked the center for a first down on the 2. Brown went into the Indiana backfield, and Byler replaced Schleich at Nebraska's left tackle. Brown failed to gain at von Goetz' guard, Francis coming up to help with the tackle. Brown made 1 at the same spot.

R. White replaced Brown in the Hoosier backfield. Indiana took out time. Hillenbrand cracked Nebraska's right guard for the touchdown. SCORE: INDIANA 6, NEBRASKA 6.
