Florian Church. Car chase ends in accident said. Assaults result in CROWN POINT A high speed chase ended here early today with both the pursuing police car and the fleeing suspect's car rolling over into a ditch. Crown Point Police Cpl. Keith Hefner was slightly injured when his squad rolled over on 109th Avenue just east of Broadway, according to Crown Point Lt.

Dennis Kaiser. The suspect, identified by Lake County police as Donald Vezeau, 28, of 2001 Scherwood Lake Drive in Schererville, was not injured. An unidentified passenger in Vezeau's car was also uninjured. Kaiser said police will seek "multiple charges" against the man today. The incident began about at 3:03 a.m.

when Hefner saw the suspect, whose license he knew was suspended, driving east on North Street, Kaiser said. The officer pursued the car, which continued east past Broadway, Kaiser said. The chase continued at speeds exceeding 80 mph, until the suspect began to lose control of his car, Kaiser said. Hefner's squad car rolled over first, after striking a guard rail, Kaiser said. The suspect's car flipped onto its side a few moments later, he said.

The driver and the passenger fled on foot but were apprehended, Kaiser sentence WAREHAM, Mass. Dorothy Checchi-0'Brien, 48, of Plymouth, said she had been feeding the birds for 10 years. She was fined $405 Wednesday for assaulting one hunter and assaulting and beating the other. Mrs.

Checchi-0 Brien showed no reaction to the verdicts, but outside court her husband, John O'Brien, shouted at the hunters as they walked past the couple: "You happy? You should be." One of the hunters, Michael Veloza, said he was glad the truth had come out. "Nobody has a right to put their hands on anybody else, no matter how big, how little, how old or how young," he said. Storm damages climbing Damage estimates climbed to more than $210 million in states struck last week by Hurricane Gloria as a quarter of a million homes and businesses remained without power today for a sixth day. State officials in New York were preparing Wednesday to ship 500,000 pounds of dry ice to between 150,000 and 165,000 customers estimated to be without power on Long Island, Gov. Mario Cuomo said.

Emergency agencies already had provided 5,000 batteries to Suffolk County for flashlights and radios, Cuomo said. The governor estimated that damage on Long Island, where Gloria made landfall Friday, would exceed $100 million..
