charge of arrange I meats for Trade Day which will be ob I feerved tomorrow in connection With the Military fair held a meeting on Wednesday night of last week and I found all the plans to be working ont most satisfactorily Prof Cogswell di rector of the fair was present and it was I arranged that the great parade shoul start at 12 :30 This parade (promises to be nearly a mile long and 'will certainly he an exemplification of I the diversified business interests of the (community It will move in three divi sions with plenty of music and all the principal streets will be traversed In 'addition to a half dozen bands there will be the militia the association with its apparatus a large number of automobiles floats of the various stores and exhibits by contracting and manu facturing firms The merchants will refund railroad fare both ways to a distance of 15 miles to all who purchase goods to the amount of $5 or more from any one or more of the stores" There will be no end of funand entertainment as great preparations are being made along this line Admission to the fair is only 10 cents a sum purposely made small in order that all may be given an opportunity toattend every day The executive committee for the Mil itary band festival held a meeting ri day nit ht and completed arrangements for the great fair of this week he va rious features of the event were consid ered charge of all the Penn Mary mines in this sec tion and has a large number ot men em ployed Attempts have been made to organize the miners but the men have been satisfied and these attempts have ptoven fruitless: At other points throughout this coun ty as at Coral iCreekside Edri Ernest Graceton Iselin Lucerne and Saltsburg the situation is comparatively quiet but few of the miners going on at the call of the president April 1 or a' time during the early spring an attempt was made to organize the Graceton dis tricfand it looked as if serious trouble might occur there Indiana connty pre sents one of the largest unorganized mining districts in the state and the la Jbor leaders are directing their efforts more and more to this field Indiana Boy Honored Rev Samuel ranklin Snyder of the class of 1909 of Pennsylvania college arid now a member of Gettysburg Theologic al seminary has been selected assistant to the president of Pennsylvania college His chief dntv will be to represent the college in the field particularly as a stu dent cauvasser and as rt helper to the fi nancial campaign now on for new en dowment The office ha assumes re quires qualifications of a rather unusual character and all friends of the college will rejoice that such a man who is so eminently fitted for the place has been secured He will begin his duties next June Rev home is in Indiana He is a NEW HOSPITAL PROJECT Enthusiastic Heeling of Physiciansand Others in Hie Cenrt House ri day Night Endorses Idea A suggestion meeting to get the senti ment of the of Indiana as re gards the erection of a general hospital for the town was held in the Court House on riday evening Mrs Sue Williard former chairman of the Indi ana Hospital association organized in 1907 was chosen temporary chairman of the present agitation Remarks from a majority of the phy sicians and several of the ministers heartily endorsed the movement and pledged their support of a hospital should it be erected Dr Gates stated that there were two or three fa vorable locations in Indiana for such a project that could be renovated and pnt in working order within a short time He further said that a hospital with ward for the use of poor patients was es sential to Indiana and should be erected or another building secured during this coming summer so tnat a request might be made to the legislature for an appro priation Acting on the suggestion of Rev a ther McNblis a motion was made and carried directing the chairman to appoint a committee of seven persons to confer with the coal companies and oth er maustnai concerns in tne county to enl st their support in the movement for a hospital They will report at a meet ing to be called in about two weers Tne charter of the old Indiana Hospi tal association is still in force and with proper application could be used for such a reorganization as should be need ed in the present movement Attorneys John isher and John A Scott who represent Olymer holdings and Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburg interests made talks in which they explained certain needed legislation as regards the erec tion and maintenance of hospitals and gave the assurance that they would do all in their power to fuither the present activity Altogether the meeting was enthusias tic and a general hospital for Indiana an institution which has long been needed here seems almost a reality The present hospital under the manage ment of Drs George Simpson and Neal has been a success since its opening day and the bads are filled withpatients almost constantly many hav ing to be refused clearly demonstrating again the urgent need of a larger iusti tnKftn Mrs Sue 'Williard temporary chairman of the Indiana Hospital asso ciation has appointed the following committee on Tuesday night of last week burglars visited several Homer City res idences and carried eff a valuable gold watch money to the extent of $15 and $25 and articles of less value The first place visited was the resi dence of Constable Griffith where a gold waich and between $15 and $25 were taken This wa the largest haul made by the night marauders At the Nix home the thieves ransacked drawers used for silverware but took none At the home of Steve Kunkle they gained an entrance in the same manner as at the Griffith house by raising a downstairs window Once inside they opened the back kitchen door so as to make escape easy should they be molest ed in their work After opening the kitchen door the thieves made their way rpstairs to th sleeping room of Mr Kunkle and pants pock ets securing a pocwL ok two cents They theu left the house it is supposed their work being carried on so quietly as not to disturb the slumbers of any of the family Two doors south of the Kunkle home they entered the residence of William Kunkle in the same manner as they had gained admission to the other Kunkle residence but here they were discovered by a daughter who gave the alarm when one of the burglars stuck his head into her bedroom Her cries frightened the burglars who made their exit from the house by way of the window Nothing was taken from this house The cry of brought a number of nearby residents to the scene but by the time they reached the Kun kle home the thieves had disappeared in the darkness and no trace of them could be found One of the men is said to have been tall aud slender while the other is described as a man of short ami heavy build Both wore slouch hats STEVE ZASADNA 1" Steve Zisadna a well known foreign er of Clymer died quite suddenly of cancer ot the stomach at his home Mon day of last week He is survived by his widow and five children uneral serv ices were held the following Wednesday afternoon and interment was made in the Greek Catholic
