Henry Helen Help Us! Better Watch Your Language! BY HELEN BOTTEL Dear Helen: You've said, in your book, "To Teens and in your column, that the way a person walks offers a key to his or her personality. Since then, I've watched myself in store windows and have made myself switch from a pigeon-toed shuffle to a carefree stride. You know something? It works! I FEEL more confident. My posture is better, my head is up, I smile more and people notice me more in fact, I have a brand new approach to life. Changing my walk was the first step.

Lately I've been watching other "keys" to personality: a woman who is forever putting her hands to her lower face in a cover-up motion often dislikes her looks and (or) is shy; therefore hides. Habitually clenched fists in an otherwise relaxed easy-going person, could show fear, aggression, strong ambition, or hostility which he is trying to suppress. Poor eye contact more often means shyness than deceit. Several books have been written about this body language, hut I didn't realize how important it is until I practiced changing a few things, like my walk, my eye contact, my stand-offishness I now listen as if I'm interested, not as if it was a chore, and people respond. So I respond to THEM! Any more hints? Won By A Walk DearWBW: Only this: You can not only change yourself by "rewriting" your body language, you can also Calendar Of Events "read" others if you're sensitive to what their actions say.

Consider, for example, the way people put on and remove their glasses. My educated guess is that if he (or she) takes them off with hands firmly planted on the bows, he's methodical, careful, cautious. If glasses are yanked off with one hand, and to the side, he's probably careless, impulsive, one who doesn't orders very well. (Doctors warn against this practice as it puts the frames out of adjustment.) He who holds his glasses by one bow, with the other bow tapping the corner of his mouth, may be a thinker wonderful, satisfying, loving night, with closeness you wouldn't believe---the next day you have a fight at the breakfast table? Does this happen only to us? We get along fine after an ordinary night, but following one of those rare, electrified, super-occasions, we battle. Can't Understand Dear C.U.: Psychologists tell me it happens often: after a particularly electrifying night, leftover sparks can start the wrong kind of fire.

Perhaps this is because utter closeness generates a human need to draw away; be your own person again. Also there's a tendency to THURSDAY AprilK Gamma -Alumnae, 7:30 chapter Entertaihment by the Collegiates. All Delta Gammas welcome. i a Woman's Shakespeare Club, 8 p.m., 1918 Archer Dr. and Mrs.

And if he rubs the bridge of his nose after removing his glasses, he's trying mightily for the right thought. Finally, if SHE wears them on chain around her neck, she's probably absentminded.

Dear Helen: Why is it, after a perfect evening with your mate -perfect understanding, a a perfect happening, whether it's love or some 'other triumph: You subconsciously fear you may never reach that pinnacle again so you want reassurance, but what you get is the off-to-work rush.
