ft EIGHTY-THREE Frankfort, April 17. (SpeciaL) The result of two weeks' hard work on the part of the gTand jurors selected to look into the alleged conspiracy which resulted in the death of Gov. William Goebel vs laid before Circuit Judge Can trill in open court at 5 o'clock this afternoon. It is their expressed belief that the Democratic leader's death was the result of a conspiracy hatched by some of the leaders of the Republican party, W. S.

Taylor, at the time Governor of the State, among them, and they by indictment accused ten of bis minions, five of willful murder and five of being accessory before the fact to the murder. The language of the indictments Indicates that the work of the jury case is but half done, and that Taylor himself may be indicted. THE MEN ACCUSED AS PRINCIPALS. The principals, or those accused of willful murder, are Henry E. Toutsey, of Newport; James Howard, of Clay county; ex-XtepresentatlTe Berry Howard, of Harlan county; Harlan Whitaker, of Butler oounty, and "Tallow Dick" Combs of Lee county THOSE NAMEpTs ACCESSORIES.

Those accused of being accessory before the fact are ex-Secretary of State Charles Finley of Whitley county; Caleb Powers and John Powers, of Knox county; W. H. Culton, of. Jackson county, and P. Wharton Golden, of Knox county.

THE CHARGE AGAINST TAYLOR. The principals are included in one indictment, but separate Indictments are presented against those charged with being accessories. The latter contain the sensational charge against W. S. Taylor.

terday returned ten Indictments the result of its Investigation of the murder of William Goebel. There may be other Indictments. Five men are indicted for tba murder and five are Indicted as accessories before the fact. Those indicted are: FOR MURDER. HEJTBT E.

Warrants were issued esterday for all those Indicted who are already In custody. trial or David o. YET UNKNOWN StiteY Evidence. one of them, that against Flnley, alleges that the ex-Secretary "with Intent to bring- about the death and procure the murder of William Goebel, did conspire with W. S. Taylor and others to this grand jury Two others, Capt- John Davis, who is now out on bail, and Green Golden, of Barbourrille, a brother of F.

Wharton Golden, are accused as is the usurper, and will likely with him be Indicted later. WHERE THE ACCUSED MEN ARE Of the men Indicted, fire, Henry Toutsey, Harlan Whitaker, Richard Combs, Oaleb Powers and W. H. Culton, are under arrest here. Two, Charles Finley and John L.

Powers, are tugit4res from Justice, the former In Indianapolis and the latter in hiding in the mountains, and for the remaining James Howard, Berry Howard and F. W. Golden, bench warrants were immediately issued and sent out to be serred. Golden will return Toluntarily, but some trouble is anticipated in apprehending and bringing in James and Berry Howard. EXAMINED EIGHTY-THREE WITNESSES.

During the twalre days' session the Jury examined eighty-three versons and everyone of them Is named in the indictments as witnesses against the accused persons, the witnesses in one being named in all. The list does not contain the name of either Toutsey, Culton or "Tallow Dick" Combs, and the confessions of the two first-named, which are more damaging to Taylor than any that the jury has yet heard, may be used before It within the next few days, or held up until they ars placed on the stand when the cases of their co-conspirators are called for trial. which, one of the last five above-named parsons, or another person acting with them, but who is to thla grand Jury unknown, so as aforesaid then and there, thereunto by the said Charlea Flnley before the faot counseled, advised, encouraged, aided and procured, did by shooting and wounding the said Ooebel with a gun or pistol loaded with powder and other explosives and leaden and steel ball and other bard substances, and from which said shooting and wounding the said Goebel died on the 3d day of February, 1900; but which of said last above-mentioned persons so as aforesaid actually fired the shot that killed the said Goebel is to this grand Jury unknown, against the peace and dignity of the Com. mon wealth of Kentucky. The Jurors filed slowly into the court room with -man Sutr at their head. He presented the report to the Judge, and they withdrew Immediately. Every one present anxiously awaited the reading of the report by the clerk, but Judge Qantrtll placed it In his pocket, and leaning back In his big arm chair, smiled. A suppressed titter ran over the room. The Sheriff rapped order and the Coison case, which was on trial, was gone on with.

A half hour later after he had adjourned court the Judge handed the report to the clerk and It was hurriedly Inspected by the waiting reporters. The news of the Indictments spread rapidly through the town. MAY DISMISS CUL- TOn AND GOLDEN. No attempt was made to return W. Culton.

Green GoWen, who Is accused but not Indicted, has never before been mentioned in connection with the case.

MAY BE ARRAIGNED TO DAY. Though no definite arrangement has been made for the arraignment of the Indicted persons. It Is thought that Caleb Powers, Toutsey. Culton. "Tallow Dick" Combe and Harlan Whitaker will be called Into court after motion hour tomorrow morning and the indictrm-nts read to them.

The Indictment of "Tallow Di-k" Combs for willful murder puts an end to the habeas corpus proceeding instituted several days since in bis behalf by Benjamin, the Lexington negro lawyer, and the latter Is relieved of what from the first seemed a bard task for him, The motion was called up at the morning session of the court, and Judge Can trill overruled the demurrer of the Commonwealth to the reply of the counsel for the prisoner. Special. Attorney R. C. Klnkead, of Louisville, was here to-day and held a conference with a number of prominent Republicans from different parts of the county. Nothing definite could be obtained, but from a number of Powers' friends and relatives It Is supposed he waa preparing his defenne either In the conspiracy case or the contest for office.
