State Superintendent of Educa tion I. W. Hill of Montgomery, attended the meeting of the Macon County Teachers Institute here last Friday and Saturday. W. Hare left Monday for Atlanta, to attend a meeting of the Southern Educational Board. Hon. Hubert Davis of Gadsden, was in Tuskegee Monday. Mr.

Davis is an old Macon County boy and is one of the ablest lawyer in state. Hon John R. Wood has been quite unwell for the past few days, we are glad to report him up at this writing. Mr. G.

Talk by Dr. John Massey on Betterment of Common Schools. By vote of the Institute it was decided, provided it met the approval of Supt. Rutherford, to hold the next Institute at Cross Keys on April 15 and 10. The following resolutions wore offered by the committee and adopted by the Institute: Resolvsd That we, the members of the Teachers Institute of Macon county, thank the citizens of Tuskegee for their hospitality and kindness extended to us.

Hare and State Washington Birthday Celebration at the Camp Ground School. On the mvition of Miss Lizzie Lombard the capable and efficient teacher of the Camp Ground School, Superintendent of Education Rutherford, Judge W. H. Hurt, Capt. VV.

G. Stevenson, Mr. W. P. Cobb and the Editor enjoyed a splendid program lust Monday evening which had been prepared for the celebration of Washington's Birthday, and which was carried out with great credit to Miss Lombard and to the school children.

Mibs Lombard is doing a great work for that community and no better school can be found anv where in the county, she is giving entire satisfaction to the patrons and is highly thought of by all the pupils. We are sorry that we have not space enough this week to print the entire program, and to mention the part taken by each of the pupils as every one of them deserve especial praise for the manner in which program was carried out. The "oration on Washington" by Master Perry Maguire is deserving of special comment, he had learned his speech well andin delivering it he showed many of the qualifications of a coming orator. Judge Hurt who had been invited to deliver an educational address i.
