"Dick" Marlowe, 78, of Clinton died Saturday, February 14, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. today at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Richard was bom in Clinton on November 14, 1930, the son of Orville E. and Marie Niebuhr Marlowe. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1948 and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Dubuque. Dick married Marjorie Price on November 21, 1951, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clinton.

He was born on January 16, 1916, in Clinton, the daughter of August A. and Sadie L. (Miller) Zingelman. She married Charles M. Redell on December 31, 1938, in Clinton.

He died March 10, 1970. She later married Louis J. Hilgendorf on September 4, 1976. He died in 1989. Maxine was a 1934 graduate of Lyons High School.

Maxine was the head cook at the Alverno Nursing Home for 16 years until retiring in 1984; prior to the Alverno she was employed in the kitchen at Clinton High School, the Clean Towel Laundry and also cleaned houses. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline on Friday, February 20, at 10 a.m. Interment will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Daughters of the American Revolution, who contributed financially to John's college education.

Donations should be sent to Pat Staley, 318 Maplewood Drive, Bettendorf, IA 52722. Charles Cox CRYSTAL RIVER, E. Cox, 84, of Crystal River, formerly of the Quad-Cities, died Feb.

4 in Crystal River. Cremation followed. Interment will be in Hut-sonville, 111. A memorial service is pending. A native of Hutsonville, Cox was a resident of the Quad-Cities for more than 60 years, moving to Florida in 2006.

He was in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1945 and was a founding partner of Twin States Machine Tool Co. of Moline, retiring in the early 1980s. He was also a member of the First Christian Church of Moline and the Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his children, Craig Cox of Surprise, Larry (Janice) Cox of Acworth, and Patty (Mark) Molden of Huntington Beach, Calif.

six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Fannie Schuler of Crystal River; and a former wife Brizendine Cox Randone of Huntington Beach, whom he married in 1945 in Davenport. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. John Robert Kiley, 58, of Davenport, beloved husband of Kathleen E. Kiley for 37'; years; caring father of Joanne (Ken) and Julia; devoted grandfather to Elliot and Iris; died on February 15, 2009.

He joins his dear sister Patricia and is also survived by his loving sister, Kathleen Bauer, brother-in-law, Bill, many nieces and nephews and godsons. Kiley was an unwavering civic contributor and friend to a great many in the Quad-Cities. Kiley was born in Davenport to Robert and Lillian Kiley. In 1971 he married Kathleen Elizabeth Irwin of Davenport. He graduated from Holy Family Grade School, Assumption High School and St.

Ambrose Univer -sity with degrees in political science and economics in 1972. He earned a master's degree at St. Ambrose University in 1989 while continuing his dedication to the underserved and marginalized. In 1975 and 1976, Kiley was a stay-at -home father to Joanne. In the late 1970s, he was a counselor for the Youth Service Bureau.

He worked at Comprehensive Training EducationJob Training Partnership Alliance for over 20 years. Kiley was president of United Way of the Quad-Cities area from 2004-2007; he joined United Way in 19 9 8 as vice president of community impact. Most recently, he was the social action director for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Davenport. Over the years Kiley served on many boards including CASI, the Open Cities Film Society, the Quad-Cities Chamber Orchestra, and recently joined the Mid Coast Fine Arts Board. Kiley was also vice-president of the Central High School Band and Orchestra Parents' Association.

He was an active member in the Cornbelt Running Club and Junior Achievement. He also taught a leadership course at St. Ambrose University. Kiley's passion was his wife and two daughters. He shared his love of music and running with them.

Kiley loved to dance, to debate and to spend time with friends old and new. He was a voracious reader and loved to learn and solve problems. He valued his Thursday night pool group, his book clulj and was an elite runner. He ran every Bix 7 but the first one, two Boston Marathons and count -less Quad-Cities Marathons. During the Vietnam War, Kiley was a vocal, conscientious objector as a pacifist and served his alternative service at Annie Wittenmeyer.

Lawrence passed away peace -fully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 14, 2009. Lawrence Allen Wittstruck was born January 26, 1935, in Omaha, a son of Ernest E.P. and Helen Wittstruck. He was united in marriage to Donna Marie Upton on September 20, 1980. L.A.

had many professions over the years, including Omaha policeman, motorcycle and boat repair, machinist truck driver and shuttle driver. His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his wife, Donna, and his children and grandchildren. Lawrence's interests were very eclectic and he surrounded himself with unusual cars from the past and present. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to memorial fund to be established in his name. Arrangements pending at Wheelan-Pressly, Rock Island. John Cervantes WEST HILLS, Calif. John R. "Jack" Cervantes died on January 1, 2009 at his home in West Hills. He was 93.

He was born October 13, 1915, in La Piedad, Michoacan, Mexico, to Octaviano Cervantes Cervantes (J served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Richard is survived by his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, Karen Krick of Clinton and Marilee (Patrick) McConnell of Machanicsville, Iowa; four grandchildren, Katie (Joel) Choate, Andy Krick, Tom McConnell and Maggie McConnell; two sisters, Doris (Christian) Jacobsen and Mary Lou (Ed) Asmus both of Clinton; and a brother, Orville J. Marlowe of Bethel Park, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, David Marlowe and Gerald Marlowe and a sister, Jean Elizabeth Marlowe.

Rosetta Moskowitz ROCK ISLAND -Rosetta (Rich) Moskowitz, born Febru ary 2, 1922, formerly of Rock Island, died at Avow Hospice in Naples, February 16, 2009. Services will be Wednesday, February 18 at 1:30 p.m. Moskowitz at the Tri-City Jewish Center, 2715 30th Street in Rock Island, with burial following at Hebrew Cemetery. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family. Rosetta was the daughter of Max and Bessie (Margolis) Rich, growing up in DeWitt, Iowa, and East Moline.

In 1949 Rosetta married Benne Alter in Moline. They welcomed son Mark and daughter Ann. After Mr. Alter's death, Rosetta married Jack J. Moskowitz, and their family grew with the births of Charles and Samuel.

They were married for 41 years. Rosetta graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island. She taught in the Rock Island Public Schools at the for -mer Franklin Junior High School, where she also served as dean of girls. She was active in many community organizations over the years; education, social equality and interfaith relations where the focus of much of her work. As a member of the Tri-City Jewish Center, Rosetta collaborated in the writing of musical productions to raise money for the synagogue and for B'nai B'rith.

She and Jack were passionate supporters of Israel. Before retiring to Cape Coral, Fla. Jack and Rosetta wintered in Sanibel Island for many years. The originator of the "Sanibel Stoop," Rosetta was an avid collector of sea shells, becoming an authority on miniature shells and teaching countless young people using her amazing collection. Following Jack's death in 1996, Rosetta moved to the Bentley Village life care community in Naples.

Her many activities at Bentley Village included tutoring numerous new English speakers, edit -ing the community newspaper and participating in a weekly political discussion group. Survivors include four children, Mark (Louise) of Naples; Ann (Alan) Meyers of Pewau-kee, Charles (Melissa) of Rock Island; and Sam (Jodi) of Baltimore, Md. She is further survived by five grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Jeremy, Lind-sey and Daniel; and one great -grandchild, Liam. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa, on May 7, 1988, the beloved son of Ron and Trudi (Kuhnle) Sines and was a 2007 graduate of Bettendorf High School. Adam was employed as a resident assistant and in earlier years, as a desk clerk at the Abbey in Bettendorf. He loved music and was an accomplished bass guitarist. His tender heart and caring attitude toward others will always be remembered.

Adam loved to make people laugh with his quirky sense of humor. Whether he was playing computer games, engaged in a game of Frisbee golf or spending time with friends in the youth group at Our Savior Lutheran Church, he enjoyed life to the fullest and will always be fondly remembered by those who knew and loved him. Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Ron and Trudi Sines of Bettendorf; his sister, Reon (Jared) Sheaff of Kirksville, Mo. his brothers, Eric Sines of New-nan, and Ryan (Pam) Sines of Port Washington, his aunts and uncles, Syb and J.D. Ford was born in Brookfield, on October 5, 1914, to Frank and Lillian (Bell) Ford. In 1938 in Moline, he married Lillian Freeberg, who died September 23, 1994.

He then married Patty Border in Moline on January 12, 1996. He was employed by Ametek in East Moline, for 38 years, holding various office positions before retiring as shipping and receiving department supervisor in December of 1977. In March of 1978, Francis started working part time at Trevor's Hardware Store in Moline, and remained employed there until 1990. In January 1990, he and Lillian began delivering Meals-On-Wheels once a week. After that, he volunteered with Hospice Care through the Visiting Nurses Association.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Moline for 45 years, and served as financial secretary and on the church council. He then joined Northcrest Calvary Baptist Church in 1996. In addition to his wife, Patty, survivors include four daughters, Mary (James) Anderson of Moline, Cheryl Beers of Belton, Virginia (Richard) Stearns of Moline, and Sylvia Tague of Eldridge, Iowa; a son, Alan (Laurie) Ford of Rock Island; thirteen grandchildren: nineteen great-grandchildren; and two step-daughters, Bonnie Zirotte of Ira, Mich. and Lori Thermos of Milan, 111. In addition to his first wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, James Tague and Wayne Beers.

Mr. Kissell died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis. Memorials may be made to the family. Larry was born January 15, 1952, in Moline, the son of Robert and Mary (Townsend) Kissell. He married Katherine "Kathy" Raymond April 1972, in Rock Island.

He retired in 2002, from the former CaseIH New Holland Plant, East Moline, where he had worked for more than 20 years. He later worked for Quad-City Brick and Stone, Bettendorf. He was a generous man with a big heart and a good provider to many. He enjoyed fishing, camping and cars. He loved all animals, especially his dogs, Charlie and Mickey.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Kissell of Silvis; daughters, Lori Kissell of East Moline, Camie Kissell at home; sons and daughter-in-law, Paul and Samantha Kissell of Dixon, Iowa, Christopher Kissell at home; granddaughter, Alexis Kissell; his mother, Mary Kissell of East Moline; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Jerri' Relha of Milan, 111. brothers and sister-in-law, Robert Kissell Jr. of Harrison, Terry and Pam Kissell of Moline. He is preceded in death by his father and sister-in-law, Judy Kissell. Online condolences may be left for the family at and Guadalupe Ramos.

In 1920, he and his family immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Moline in 1925. John graduated from Moline High School in 1934, attended Augustana College until 1936 and earned a master's degree in romance languages from the University of Illinois in 1939. He was married to Mildred Gneier in 1943, shortly before being enlisted in the U.S. Army. During World War II, he served as sergeant in the 91st Reconnaissance Wing of the 5th Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater.

Upon his return from war, he and Mildred settled in California. He was an educator for 35 yean with the Los Angeles Unified School District. He authored three books: "My Moline, A Young Illegal Immigrant "Home Alive in '45, an Album of Buddies in War and and "Cervantes Family History" John enjoyed traveling the world and spending time with his family. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mildred. He is survived by eight children: Ann, Elizabeth, Charles, Joseph, Jolin Thomas, Mary and Paul; He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
