She was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Centerville, Iowa. Survivors include an adopted daughter, Lisa Grandberry, Rock Island; and two godsons. Milan Ruth Bruce MILAN, 111. Ruth L. Bruce, 79, Milan, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Services will be 11 a.m. Mon day at Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is Mrs. Bruce 1-4 p.m.

She married Reuben Bruce in 1941 in Rock Island. They owned and operated Grocery Store in Preemption from 1951 to 1952. Survivors include her husband, Reuben; and sisters, Julia Simmon, Milan, and Mary Elas, Viola. i. at the mortuary Mr.

Daniel-son died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at his home. He was employed 26 years as a Mr. Danieison welder at John Deere Plow Planter. He retired in 1982.

He was born Nov. 21, 1920, in Beresford, S.D. He married Rosalie Poston in 1949 in Moline. During World War II, he served as a surgical technician. Survivors include his wife, Rosalie; daughters, Cindy Humphrey and Rhonda Starof-sky, both of Port Byron, three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Area deaths Dorothy Mitchell TIPTON, Iowa Services for Dorothy Leota Mitchell, 87, of 214 E. 4th will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Evergreen Hill, Cedar Bluff. The Rev.

David Lorenzen will officiate. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Dorothy died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, after a sudden illness.

She was farm wife and homemaker. Dorothy Dodds was born July 22, 1913, in Cedar County, to Harry Sr. and Alice (Mayer) Dodds. She married Claude Henry Mitchell on Dec. 7, 1923, in Cass Township.

She attended County School-Cass No. 1 and was a 1930 graduate of Tipton High School and a 1932 graduate of Tipton College. Dorothy was a member of United Church of Christ and King's Daughters for 62 years, was a 4-H leader and a member of Cedar County Cancer Board, Cass Township Homemaker, Farm Bureau, United Church of Christ Ruth Circle, and Coon Creek Ladies Aide. Her many hobbies included writing poems, crocheting and gardening. Dorothy enjoyed her family, seeing her three grandchildren grow up and was very proud of them.

Lohf Michelle Tamayo was born Oct. 3, 1966, in Iowa City, the daughter of Raul Jesse and Christine (Ramirez) Tamayo. She married Michael A. Lohf in Davenport. She graduated from Davenport West High School Class of 1985.

Tonya loved to spend time with her family. She especially cherished the time she spent with her daughter, Ashley. Ashley was, and will always be, the light of her life. Memorials can be made to an educational fund to be estab-' lished for her daughter. Survivors include her daugh- i-ter, Ashley; her mother, Chris Tamayo, Davenport; her father, Raul Tamayo, Rock Island; a brother, Rick Tamayo, and his special friend, Molly Snyder; grandmothers, Juanita Ramirez and Natalie Tamayo, both of Davenport; nephews, Paul Tamayo and Alex Correa; special friends, Scott Van Ausdall, Cindy Hansen and J.D.; and Thomas Matznick, her number two father.

Several loving aunts, uncles and cousins also survive her. Merle Giesler PORT RICHEY, Fla. Merle J. Giesler, 71, Port Richey, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at North Bay Medical Center.

Born in East Moline, he came to the Florida area 15 years ago from Davenport. He was a millwright at International Harvester and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a Presbyterian and a member of the Union Local 2158 of Millwrights, International Harvester Union 409 Farmall Division, American Legion and the Masons. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lois; a son, Daniel, Davenport; a daughter, Nancy Goetzmann, and her husband, Steven, O'Fallon, a sister, Thelma Callewaert, Wichita, grandchildren, Timothy, Jason and Abby Giesler, Stephe-nie Webb and Danielle Goetzmann; and two great-grandchildren.

Brown Davenport. She had worked at Geifman Foods. Geneva Lane was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Ottumwa, Iowa. She married Harold Brown in 1939 in Lancaster, Mo.

Ashpole died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, in McAllen. He was employed as a Mr. Ashpole fork lift opera- tor at Central Steel Clinton. He was born June 21, 1914, in Elvira.

He married Mary Von-Motz in 1947 in Moline. She died in 1991. He married Amalia Alaniz on Feb. 14, 2000, in McAllen. During World War II, he served in the Army.

Mrs. Gorman died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Rosewood Care Center. She was a teacher in Galesburg and in Stark and Bureau counties. She retired in 1971.

Mason 7,2000, at her home after an extended illness. Carol was employed the past 10 years at Deere Moline. She began as a commercial rater and for the past two years was a senior treasury clerk. She received an associate's degree from Scott Community College and was working toward her bachelor's degree. She was born Dec.

7, 1949, in Davenport, the daughter of Bernard H. and Mary Kathleen (Bradley), Kloppenborg. She married David B. Mason on Nov. 27, 1969, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

He died Dec. 20,1995. Carol was a former member of the Business and Professional Women of American and served on the United Way committee that distributes funds to area organizations. She also served as a United Way volunteer at John Deere Insurance, volunteered for the Child Abuse Council and at Helpline for Parents. In addition, she served three years, and chaired for one year, the annual Nohitter Day at John Deere Insurance.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mrs. Shafer died Wednes Mrs. Shafer day, Dec. 6, 2000, at Mount View Care Center, Tucson, after an extended battle with cancer. She was employed as a Realtor and a sales representative for United Van Lines.

Dorothy Anges Fayr was born Oct. 23, 1926, in Davenport, to Martin and Maryellen (Dolphin) Fayr. She married Robert Edward Shafer on June 29, 1946, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. She was a former member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport, for many years.

She and her husband were very active parishioners. She also was a member of St. Elizabeth and Seton Catholic Church, Tucson. Her other memberships included the Women's Traffic Club. Memorials may be made to St.

Alphonsus and Holy Family Catholic schools or Handicapped Development Center. Survivors include her husband, Robert; daughters, Roseanne Rekers and her husband Richard and children Corey and Ryan, Hudson, Iowa, Joellen Raderstorf and her husband Scott and children Benjamin, Maxwell and Quintin, Boulder, and Mary Newcomer and her husband Mark and children Kelly and Joseph, Davenport; sons, Martin Shafer and his wife Barbara and children Melinda, Laura and Chad and his wife, Dawn, Iowa City, Gerald Shafer, Davenport, and the Rev.
