Mrs. Schumaker died Sunday, Oct 5, 1997, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. She worked at the Peoples National Bank at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary East Moline. Mr. Pulliam died Monday, Oct.

He served on the board of directors of Clinton Ecumenical Housing; the board of directors and supporter of the Nee-Hi Drum and Bugle and the Iowa Funeral Director's Association, where he was District 2 governor; and was a Clinton Chamber of Commerce Ambassador.

He also was a member of the Eagle's Club and the Loyal Order of the Moose, past president of the Lions Club, past member of the Elks Club, past member of the Clinton Riverboat Days committee and past director of the Clinton Baseball Club. Karl was an avid sports enthusiast, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Chicago Bulls, Clinton Lumber Kings and the Green Bay Packers. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; a son, Karl H. Schmitz Jr. and his wife Debi.

Manchester; daughters, Kristine Schmitz, Clinton, and Kimberly and her husband, Marcus Kimmer, Charlotte, N.C.; a grandson, BijanAsaadi, Clinton; a brother, Kenneth Schmitz and his wife, Jane, Arkadelphia, sisters, Karen and her husband, Jack Hemesath, Castalia, Mary Lou and her husband, Ivan Uhlenhake, Ossian; a brother-in-law, Jim Braudt and his wife Pat, of Clinton; and 15 nephews and nine nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Cynthia, in infancy Karl was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Pallbearers will be Lauren Hyde, Rich Hansen, Terry Kenney, Bob Kimmer, Bob Blohm, Dorance Cox John Shepard and Tom Havens. Doris Strunk, 72, of Clinton, Iowa, died Monday at Samaritan North i Hospital, Clinton. Arrangements pend- ing at Snell-Zornig. Clinton. in Kewanee in earlier years. In 1969, she began working at the Henry County Farm Bureau in Cambridge as a bookkeeper, retiring in June.

Lavonne Smith was born May 4, 1936, in Kewanee. She married Linder Schumaker in 1956 in Bishop Hill. Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Ambulance Service of Cambridge United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; sons, Ronald, Cambridge, San Francisco, and David, St. Cloud, two grandchildren; sisters, Donna Johnson, Cam-; bridge, and Bette Clarke, Coloria; and a brother, Carl Smith, Mr.

Clark was employed 21 years as a firefighter at the former East Moline State Hospital. He was assistant fire chief for six years and retired in 1985. He was born Dec. 24, 1922, in Atkinson, 111. She married Verla Rosenow in 1943.

He married Helen Kiesey in 1962 in Reynolds, ILL During World War II, he served in the Marine Corps. He participated in the battles of Saipan and received a Purple Heart on Iwo Jima. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Pamela Epperly, Milan, sons, Robert "Rick," Sycamore, 111., Steven, Davenport, Jeffrey, East Moline, and Kurt, Geneseo, 13 grandchildren; and sisters, Catherine Anderson, Ohio, 111., and Helen Clark, Sublette, 111. warehouse at Express Plus, Hay-ward, Calif.

He was born July 14, 1961, in Moline. Survivors include his parents, Barbara Pulliam, Moline, and Lawrence Pulliam, Springfield, Ohio; sisters, Cynthia Patterson, Silvis, 111., and Angela Pulliam, Moline; and a special friend, Linda Brown, Oakland. Furnetta White EAST MOLINE Services for Furnetta M. White, 71, of 1026 13th will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Orr's Mortuary, Rock Island.

Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. service to follow. Mr. Schmitz died Saturday, Oct.

4, 1997, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, after a brief illness. Karl moved to Clinton on Dec. 30, 1963, where he owned and operated the Snyder-Schmitz Funeral Home, later known as Schmitz Funeral Home until his death. He also was co-owner of Schmitz Funeral Home, Ossian. Karl was born Nov.

8, 1940, in Decorah, to Philip and Florence (Miller) Schmitz. He received his education at St. Francis De Sales School, Ossian, and graduated in 1958 from De Sales High School. He attended Upper Iowa University, Fayette, for two years, and graduated from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science, Milwaukee. Karl married Sharon Janet Braudt on Aug.

8, 1964, at Sacred Heart Church, Clinton. Karl was a member of Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace Parish, and Clinton Knights of Columbus Council 707, where he was a past grand knight and trustee; former deputy of the Iowa State Council of Wednesday at the funeral home, with a wake service from 6-8 p.m. Mrs. White died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at Oak Glen Nursing Center, Coal Valley, 111..

She was an Eastern Star worthy matron. She married Joseph J. Nigg, a construction engineer, Sept. 14, 1932, in Memphis, and lived throughout the Midwest. After his death, she married Charles E.

Hoffhine June 17, 1977, in Utica, Mich. Memorials may be made to the Porter Place Foundation, 1001 E. Yale, Denver, CO 80210. Survivors include a son, Joseph E. Nigg, Denver; three grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.

After retirement, he worked at the dealership on a part-time basis. He was born May 13, 1921, in Barstow. He married Dorothy Carson in 1941 in Missouri. He was an Army veteran of World Warn.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Susan Keleher and Mary Johnson, both of Orion; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, George, Wood-hull, and Pat, Hot Springs, Ark. He was born Sept. 2, 1918, in Guthrie Center. He married Maxine Artes in 1942 in Kahoka, Mo.

She died in 1993. During World War II, he served In' the Army. He was a captain in the European Theater. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association. Genevieve Manning was born March 3, 1909, in Clinton County. She married Ralph Cram in 1927 in Lyons. He died in 1987. He married Rosemary A. Elbert on June 29, 1942, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. During World War II, he served in the Army. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport; Knights of Columbus Loras Council 532, Davenport; Davenport Elks 298; National Association of Federal Retired Employees; and Halligan-McCabe Funeral Home Pallbearer Club.

Mr. Coughlin was a bowling enthusiast, having bowled for the Elks and Knights of Columbus leagues. Memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Church Building Fund. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary, Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Kathy Coughlin, Olathe, and Cletus and Jane Coughlin, Chesterfield, six grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and sisters, Helen Tiradani and Margaret Harvey, both of Lyndon Station, and Marie Fitzgerald, Racine, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister. Judith Arnold DAVENPORT Memorial Services for Judith L. Arnold, 53, of Sequim, formerly of Davenport, will be 3 p.m. Friday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Davenport.

Burial will be in Iowa. Sequim Valley Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Arnold died Sunday, Sept. 28, 1997, at her home.

She was a certified nurses assistant at Sequim nursing homes. Survivors include his mother; and his grandmother, Ella Terry, both of Davenport. Coal Valley Margaret Wallace COAL VALLEY, 111. Services for Margaret E. Wallace, 67, of Coal Valley, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hodgson Funeral Home Rock Island.

Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery, Coal Valley. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. today at 7 Funeral Home, East Moline, with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Van Raes was employed as a meat cutter at the former Van Raes' Market and Baecke's Market, and retired in 1977 as a steward at the former LeClaire Hotel, Moline.

He was born Nov. 23, 1912, in Zarren, Belgium. He married Laura Kerschieter in 1934 in East Moline. She died in 1995. Memorials may be made to the Monsignor William J.

Cleary Endowment fund. Survivors include daughters, Joanne Herrington and Susanne Boyer, both of East Moline; sons, Laurence, East Moline, and Robert, Roswell, N.M.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, A.L. "Curly," Moline. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Michael Van Raes, on June 25.

Rock Island James O'Dette ROCK ISLAND Private family services for James O'Dette, 74, of Rock Island, will be held at a later date. His body will be donated to the University of Iowa. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. O'Dette died Sunday, Oct.

5, 1997, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. He was employed as a classical pianist in the San Francisco area and had given private piano lessons and classical performances since 1948, retiring in 1988. He was born July 7, 1923, in Saginaw, Mich. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Survivors include a sister, June Harder, Rock Island; and a brother, Richard, Scottsdale, Ariz. 1 Mrs. Huizenga died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at the home. She was employed as a nurse's aide and later as a licensed practical nurse at 1 Mrs.

29, 1997, in Fayetteville. She was a teacher and developed curriculum for teaching English. She retired in 1973 from West High School, Davenport. Eunice Risinger was born April 6, 1908, in LaFontaine, Kan. She married Rufus Bullis.
