at Faith Church, 8910 Grace Highland, IN with Pastor Jason DeVries officiating. Interment will be at Memory Lane Cemetery, Crown Point, IN. www. kishfuneralhome Linda K. Fry (nee Dodson), beloved life partner, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, friend, and owner of four (and three) legged beasts; teacher and singer and laugher and planter of more than 400 kinds of hostas; caretaker of minds and teapots and ukuleles; and one of the most generous, genuine, curious, caring people in the world, composed her final verse on June 16, 2016.

From her music -filled childhood spent annoying her brother by giving away the secrets of his magic tricks in Gary, IN to her studies at Butler, IN, and Valparaiso Universities to her decades as an award-winning English teacher at Merrillville High School, she was an eager student of life. Language and literature delighted and intrigued her, and she loved sharing books like "The Cane Mutiny" and "Tess of the D'Urbervilles" with multiple generations of students. Adored by her students, many of them kept in touch with her long after leaving her classes, even inviting her to their weddings or bringing her souvenirs from their travels. Retirement brought her more time to spend with her cherished animals, her musical instruments, her thousands of albums, her beautiful home and gardens, and of course her family and friends. She and her life partner, Colette Lewandowski, who married in 2015 after 37 years together, enjoyed traveling to Michigan for shopping, golfing, and relaxing with friends, and to Green Bay, WI, to visit her brother and sister-in-law who tried in vain to convert her to a Packer fan.

Preceding her into her Second Retirement are her first marriage partner Walter Fry, her parents, Charles Samuel and Mabel Kellogg Dodson and her brother Charles Brooks Dodson. Continuing on to celebrate her life are Colette sister's family Marchell and Bob Barkey, her sister in lawsoul mate Mary Kay Dodson, her niece Sarah Dodson-Knight (Edward Knight), her nephew Matthew Dodson, her great niece and nephew Griffin and Gwyneth Knight, her dog Rowdy, her housecat Axel, and a small herd of stray cats in the garage led by the intrepid Tripod. As with many of her passions, her enthusiasm for being an Aunt to Sarah, Matt, Griffin, and Gwyneth and sister in law to Mary Kay and Marchell was evident to all who knew her. Whether discussing past and future adventures, finding the best birthday presents ever, or leading singalongs or general shenanigans, she was an incredible aunt, sister-in-law and friend, whose phone calls would sometimes run into the hours. In memory of Linda, her family and friends including Bruce, Tracey, Karen, Theresa, Judy and Pat urge you to harmonize whenever the mood strikes you, to feed the feral cats that lurk behind (or in) your garage, and to relish that piece of cake or snifter of Crown Royal waiting for you in your kitchen.

In lieu of flowers, you can also contribute in Linda's name to her favorite charities: Humane Society of Hobart, 2054 IN-130, Hobart, IN 46342 or Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, 570 450 Valparaiso, IN 46383. Just as she enjoyed a soundtrack of Mozart to Motown to The Village People on her last day with us, please join us for a spirited remembrance of her at a memorial service on Saturday, June 25 from to 1:00 p.m. at Edmonds Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Portage, IN. All are welcome to attend the celebration of Linny-honey Barbie Dodson Fry. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.ee-fh.com Harold E.
