RAY CONNIFF SHOW--The conductor-arranger uses his 5-channeI sound equipment for a new musical hour at 7:30 p.m., ch. 11, featuring his orchestra and 16-voice chorus.

ED SULLIVAN--18th season premiere. The Beatles (taped Aug. 14) sing six of their hit tunes at 8 p.m., ch. 2, joining Allen and Rossi, Soupy Sales, Cilia Black and Fan- tasio, a magician. (Show comes to Hollywood next week for the first of five hours in color.) BRANDED--2nd season premiere.

4, in color. HOLLYWOOD THE STARS --Host Joseph Cotlen looks at the career of "The Man Called Bogart" as the David L. Wolper series gets its off-network premiere at 9:30 p.m., ch. 9. CANDID CAMERA--6th season premiere.

Segments of the 10 p.m., ch. 2 show have hotel guests finding a donkey in their room, and motorists being stopped at a roadblock to be told "Delaware is full and has been closed." EMMY AWARDS--17th annual presentations. Danny Thomas is host at the Hollywood Palladium, with Sammy Davis at the New York Hilton for the 90-min. ceremonies seen at 10 p.m., ch. 4, via 3-hour delay.

Awards are given only 4 categories this year, and are for "excellence" instead of "best," so that several from one category may win the nod. PLAY OF WEEK--Husband-and-wife Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson star with Ruth White at 10 p.m., ch. 9, in a light-hearted comedy of an aging mama's boy who marries a cigarette girl after a 3-date courtship.
