It. Hudson, Wheeling. TllK RIVER la etill falling, with 31 feet water in the channel at six o'clock last evening. A light drizzling rain fell during the greater part of the day yesterday. The river was alive with tow-hoats yes terday, arriving and discharging their tows'.

The followine; boats arrived: Tom Dodsworth, My Choice, Tom Farrow, II. F. l'iorrepout, James tiilmoro, Fred Wilson No. 2, Stella, Fearless, Alice Brown, Storm, Ella, Coal Valley, Whale, and Con dor. Several others passed down, but we were unable to make out their names.

The Fearless made a remarkably quick run from l'ituburjr, urriviug Hero three days and five hours out. Sho laid by nine hours on the trip. She had nine banjos of coal and one of coke in her tow. The Fearless started back to Pittsburg lieht last nijrht after three barges laden with freight for M. Louis.

Win. II. Hall and Tom Catnpbell were her pilots. The Victor Williams passed up yester. day for Pittsburg, with three barges loaded with empty oil barrels.

The Com Farrow started up the river last ni'tit with empty b.irges. The Thompson Dean continues to be an object of Interest to our citizens, and is daily thronged with visitors, admiring her symmetrical proportions and niagniticeut cabin. The I)ean is laying at the foot ol Kace street, and all visitors are politely received and welcomed, whether the object be to secure a room for the excursion, or merely gratify their curiosity. The Dean leaves for New Orleans and way points Fridav evening, without fail. Captain James it.

Pepper and chief clerk N. B. Fowler are well known, and popular with the traveling public. The Commonwealth lowered her chimneys yesterday, and came up to thecity wharf. The Belte Vernon is receiving for her departure this evening for Arkansas and all way points.

Captain John J. Darragh commands, and Thomas Darragh presides in the oilice. The now and splendid passengernsteanipr Jas. D. Parker leaves thin evening for Memphis and way points.

It. W. Wiso is lier accomplished commander, aud Mr.Mc. lu tyre her attentive chief clerk. Captain John K.

Booth is loading the Allegheny Belle's barges for New Orleans at 6c. per 100 less than the steamboats. The Belle leaves to-inorrow evening, and will put freight througu on time. The Mary Miller, Captain J. Paul, is loading to leave for all points on Arkansas Uiver Thursday.

The St. James is the noon mail packet for Maysville. The Fleetwood Is the Huntington and Pomeroy packet, leaving at 4 p. m. Captain Campbell commands, and Messrs.

Tbornhurg, Strattou and Muuck are associated in the ollioc. The Wildwood is making regular time In ber daily trips to Iliggiusport. leaves at 8 r. m. The Mountain Bello is the regular dally packet to Chilo, leaving at 4 r.

m. The Charmer will be the Bed Collar Lino racket for Lvausville, leaving this even ing. Captain Geo. Xenre, asent for the Un derwriters, arrived from Kvausville yes terday. Captain R.

L'nited States Marshal Packard has taken possession ot the steamer Marcella, at New Orleans. Ice passed the New Orleans wharf last Tuesday for the hrst tnno since lio. Freights from New Orleans to St. Louis are Quoted at 20 cents per 100. The Tom Stevens, sunk up the Missouri, can be raised.

The Seminole has entered the Red River trade from New Orleans. Captain J. P. Fitzgerald, a well-known Bteainboatman, has been appointed Deputy Collector of tho Port of Shreveport.
