Thieves Get Bible, $160 HAMMOND Burglars took a bible containing $160 from a Hammond couple's apartment whilet hey were in church Sun day. Carl Krepps, 4918 Elm Hammond, said the eight $20 bills hidden in the Bible were missing when he and his wife returned from church. Police said the burglar apparently jimmied the lock on the apartment door. In another breakin, police said burglars forced the apartment door of Aleta Haynes, 5240 Sohl Hammond, and took almost $1,000 in jewelry and coins. Two rings valued at $800, a $125 watch, and $10 in coins were stolen, Haynes reported.

Police charged Daniel Matusz, 31, of 665 Gordon Calumet City, with driving under the influence of liquor and driving too fast for conditions.

Matusz, they said, ran into the rear of the car of Frank Kray, 35, of Chicago Heights, waiting for a traffic light change at the intersection. Kasalo was riding with Kray, Crash Kills 1 in Harvey HARVEY A Crestwood man was fatally injured in a two-car crash south of here Saturday. John Sherrill, 49, of 4844 Midlothian Turnpike, Crestwood, died shortly after 9 p.m. in Hazel Crest Hospital. He was a passenger in a car driven by Marvin Bookout, 36, of Richton Park, 111., which col lided with a car driven by Norman Mosel, 46, of Blue Island, at 11 a.m.

Saturday. State police said Bookout was southbound on Dixie Highway, and was turning east on 159th Street when the collision occured. Bookout was charged with failing to yield right-of-way. 123-Day ITU Walkout Ends EAST ST. LOUIS, 111.

(AP) -Members of a Typrographical Union will return to work this week at the Metro East Journal, ending a 123-day walkout. The newspaper will resume publication Friday. The International Typrographical Union Local 8 overwhelmingly accepted Sunday an agreement giving women employes the same pension as men. The pension had been the main obstacle in the dispute. Members of Local 166 of the Glass Bottle Blowers Association maintained picket lines at the Metro plant at 138th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. There are 445 members in the local. A three-year national contract was agreed on Sunday, sending some 3,000 workers back to jobs at glass plants in Streator, Alton and East St Louis, III. Local 166 officials and Metro management haven't reached agreement on terms of working conditions and seniority, union officials said. Lee Minton, president of the union, said the pact is "the best ever negotiated in the glass con tainer industry." The contract provides for a package increase of 34Vfe cents an hour, according to union estimates.

It calls for hourly wage increases of 10 cents the first year, four cents the second and 10 cents the third. Teens Arrested In Tavern Raid EAST CHICAGO Eight teenagers, including four Griffith High School students, were arrested by Federal Excise agents in an East Chicago tavern Friday night, police report.
