"Everybody seems a little bit looser," Angels starting pitcher Daryl Green said Thursday. "It's a little different now." Green, along with nine other Quad-City players, return from last year's team that set a Midwest League record for losses in a 47-91 campaign. And those players appear to be on a mission.

"We're a little more experienced with some of the players back," pitcher Brandy Vann said. "That's going to help us. We were young then. We want things to go better this year and I hope they do. We're working hard for that" Vann said it's difficult to get an idea of how successful this team could be.

"I really can't tell until the that even if the -weatherman I doesn't. "We've got a lot of things lined up," Feder said. "This club has -to be a big part Feder season starts," he said. "We've had a good spring training but we had a good spring and a good attitude last year, too." But Green said last year's mark eases the pressure. "We're just here to play the game," he said.

"Physically and mentally, we're just going to go out and play without any pressure. I think we're ready to go." Angels Manager Eddie Rodriguez said he's noticed a difference, too. "I anticipate we're going to see some good things from these guys," he said. "They've never had that chance before," Feder said. "The broadcasts will be the best promotional tool that well have. Radio will give this club a professional image." Danahy said KSTT is hoping the broadcasts will increase its audience. "We're going to let people know about what's going on," he said. "Hopefully they'll come down to the park, become interested in the team, follow them on the radio when they can't come out and patronize the advertisers." Air time on KSTT is 7:10 p.m.

Quad-City Angels Manager Eddie Rodriguez is hoping that some quickness will carry his team to a successful 1988 campaign.

"We've got six outfielders who can move," Rodriguez said. "Well be able to use the running game a lot more this season that we could last year. It gives us a whole new dimension." Speedsters Terence Carr, Chris Graves and Troy Giles return along with newcomers Bill Robinson, Chris Threadgill and world-class sprinter Charlie Romero. It also gives Rodriguez a gameplan he's more comfortable of this community." Feder has a long list of special events planned for the ballpark, beginning with tonight's 7:30 season-opening game against Burlington. The game is a guaranteed win night and if the Quad-Cities loses, fans will be given a free general admission ticket to Saturday's game against the Braves.
