Leo Hargenrother, 29. had the nerve to face gunfire six men suspected of being petting: party bandits, were still in jail here today. Hargenrothaa- and his wife had stopped their car in a woodland at the southwest edge of the city, when the- six men suddenly began closing- in on the car from both sides. Sizing up the situation quickly, Hargenrother leaped out of the car and grabbed the man nearest him who said he was William Mc-Mahon, 33. One of the other men shot four times at Hargenrother, trho then whirled McMahon between himself and the spouting gun.

The other men fled. Hargenrother marched McMahon to a near-by farm, summoned police. Officers later arrested Owen Devera, 18, William Davids, 17, Joseph Church, 17, George Church, 19, nd Robert Wennlng, 16. All were charged with vagrancy pending further investigation. LEGAL NOTICE Elolse Powling.
