She was born July 4, 1931, in Trimble, TN, to Oscar, who preceded her in 1992, and Lucretha (Rudd) Cook, who preceded her in 1935. On January 26, 1956, she married Rudy Dodd, who preceded her, July 1, 1989. Surviving are: two sons, Ernie (Lauri) Dodd of Lake Station and Ike Long of Hornbeak, TN; two daughters: Lorrie Shei of Westville, IN, and Cindy (Max) Mangold of New Carlisle, IN; one step-son, John M. Dodd of Union City, TN; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and special friend, Paul Williams and Family. Also preceded by son-in-law, Bud Shei, in 1993.

Judy was a member of the Chesterton Women of the Moose Chapter 846 and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 21. She was a resident of Westville, for the past nine years, formerly of Troy, TN, and Lake Station, IN. Visitation will be Sunday, April 2, 2000, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Newhard Funeral Home, 58 W. Walnut Westville, IN.

Herring, 94, of Griffith, IN, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2000. She was a member of the Gary Garden Club and was employed as a clerk at Lytons, in Gary. Preceded in death by husband, Jack Herring in 1994. Survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Born in Brookville, Indiana, in 1914, Mr.

Kackley was raised primarily in Centerville and Richmond. He graduated from Ball State University. He began his teaching career in Milford, Ohio, where he met his wife, Darline Larason. They were married in 1940. The couple moved to Hammond, where Mr.

Kackley taught at Hammond Technical Vocational High School, for over thirty years. He taught math and later became Director of Guidance. Mr. Kackey was very active in the teachers union, helping to improve the status of teachers and to enhance the goals of education He was preceded in death by his wife, Darline, who died in 199Z He is survived by a son, James (Barbara) Kackley of Barrington; daughters Cindy (Ken) Drolet of Bisbee, AZ, and Sally (John) Ryan of Fishers, IN; two grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; one brother, Paul Kackley of Snowflake, AZ, and one sister, Edythe Patrick of Albany, IN. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m.
