The tipoff is the recruiting of the Playcrafters Lloyd Nelson to play a well-known columnist named Bill Wondering while Jennifer Hanson portrays Meg Nesia, a combination of Dear Abby and Miss Manners. Randy Belk, the station's program director, says what's happening is this: Beginning July 4, KLJB-TV will present a program called "Live on Tape" Saturdays from 9 to 11 p.m. There'll be a hosted movie interspersed with pre-recorded co-medic and satirical skits utilizing Quad-City talent furnished by such ordinarily dignified groups as the Playcrafters, Circa 21, and Genesius Guild. Executive producer for this Chuck Connors Phil Donahue Oprah Winfrey DAILY AT: undertaking is Tom Hart. (That's not the Davenport mayor although the mayor probably won't escape being a target in the sketches.

Producer Hart's a member of KLJB-TVs staff who lives in Rock Island.) Some of the writing will be done by Brandon Lovested and, not to overlook anything, Belk himself will be lampooned by John Horvath who plays a TV type named Amie Upshoe. Patty Flaherty of the Genesius Guild is also enlisted in the cause. Capital Cities ABC executive praised it as an example of ABC's commitment to quality news shows." "Days of passive consumerism of TV are over," claims Dorothy Swanson, director of VQT, which is headquartered in Fairfax Station, and funded, she says, by subscription fees to its bi-monthly newsletter. schedule to be carried by KLJB-TV and other affiliates. Eventually that lineup will comprise half-hour episodes of four series: "Werewolf," "New Adventures of Beans Baxter," "Down and Out in Beverly Hills," and "Karen's Song." The roll-out will begin, however, with a two-hour epsiode of "Werewolf." OUR WORLD' Jim Bartlett reports his Davenport KRVR-FM afternoon radio show in recent weeks got into considerable discussion of a campaign which seeks to reverse ABC-TVs decision to drop "Our World," the news documentary show, next fall. The drive is backed by an organization called Viewers for Quality Television. Bartlett says he found "a fair amount of support" among his audience" for "Our World" as well as interest in the VQT campaign. "ABC," he says, "renewed a number of low-rated programs for the fall, some certainly less deserving than "Our World," if somewhat higher-rated.

"The article was edited," he says, "to include the local broadcast times of the programs however, the local ratings for these programs are completely opposite from those stated in the article.
