Graf ton Girl Takes Titles In Pageant tumult and the shouting attendant upon the selection of Miss Sandra Critchfield of Grafton as "Miss Jersey Coun ty" and "Miss Jersey County Fair" during the -annual Jersey County Fair Monday night had simmered down somewhat today and Miss Critchfield, still a bit at a loss for words, was at her secretarial job with Alton Radonics at Alton. "I don't know what I'm going to do with the scholarship," Miss Critchfield said today. A scholarship of $530 went along with the titles slie bagged in a close contest close for the comfort of all hands.

There's the Contract "I've still got to sign a contract for the Miss Illinois and Miss State Fair contests," Miss Critchfield said, "so I haven't actually received the scholarship. I'll use the scholarship to further my business education in some way." The full-scale beauty and talent pageant was run in a stage in front of the grandstand at the Jersey Fair, the major event opening day. The- climax' of the pageant started with the selection of Miss Janet Stone of Jerseyville as "Miss Congeniality" and the designation of Miss Stone, Miss Critchfield and Wood River and Mrs. £. and Mrs. Lawrence Adtock of Carrollton, suffered lacerations and a fracture of'her great toe when the bicycle which she was riding ran into a fence. The child was brought to Boyd Memorial Hospital Sunday afternoon for treatment following the accident. Mr. and Mrs.

Award Contract For Macoupin Creek Bridge The Illinois Division of Highways announced today that the Cnlhoun County Construction Spring' field, was the apparent low bidder on a Macoupin County project in a special letting session lust Thursday. The project, on which the low bid was $247,825, is the construction of a five-span deck girder bridge over Macoupin Creek on Illinois Rt. 4, two miles south of Carlinville.

E. A. Rosenberg, director of the Department of Public Works, said thai the July 2 letling was a special one to handle both new projects and some on which the previous bids had beeiv rejected. The next scheduled letting will be held July 24. The Macoupin proposal was among bids totaling, $14,482,551 received last week for road and related construction in 45 counties.
