Alvin Brauer LOST NATION, Iowa Alvin William Brauer, 70, of Lost Nation died Monday at his home. Services will be 10:30 am Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lost Nation.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation is after 2 pm today at Malamphy Funeral Home. He had been a farmer. Mr. Brauer married Lillian Bu-resh in 1941 in Oxford Junction.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Carol (Mrs. Brad) Anderson, DeWitt, and Mona (Mrs. John) Sorenson, Colorado Springs, a son, William, Elwood; five grandchildren; and a sister, Mabel Nodurft, Lost Nation. Mr. Green Jeans dies at 77 NEW YORK (AP) Hugh Brannum, who for 30 years played Mr.

Green Jeans, the friendly farmer, handyman and unsucess-ful inventor on "Captain Kangaroo," has died at age 77. Brannum died Sunday of cancer in East Stroudsburg, said Bob Keeshan, his long-time co-star who played Captain Kangaroo on the children's show. "People will remember him for the animals he showed us and the rural America he showed us in a' very real way," Keeshan said Tuesday. "They'll remember him for his caring and his gentleness, which was very real," Keeshan said. "So many millions grew up with him as a good friend." Brannum, a lanky 6-footer who was nicknamed "Lumpy," was bom on Jan.

He was employed 35 years at Deere and and retired in 1985 as superintendent at John Deere Parts East Moline. Mr. Viaene married Maxine Stopper in 1951. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of John Deere Retirees.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Christina Charles, Moline; a son, Michael Viaene, Mar-shalltown, Iowa; four grandchildren; and a sister, Geraldine Hendrickson, and a brother, Robert L. Green Rock Paul Bohlander Services for Paul "Jim" Bohlander, 73, of 203 1st Green Rock, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Green Rock. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Monmouth, 111.

He was employed as a cutter for 33 years at Rock Island Arsenal. Mr. Bohlander married Dorothy Poulson in 1950 in Monmouth, 111. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Margaret Morgan married Anton Shimak in 1918 in Iowa City. He died in 1951. She was a member of Letts Methodist Church. Charles Grabbe Services for Charles E. Grabbe, 76, of Inverness, formerly of Davenport, will be 10 Mr. Grabbe am. Thursday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 9 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Eduational Foundation of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church or to the building fund at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Mr. Grabbe died Monday at Inverness. He retired after 41 years as a truck driver. Mr. Grabbe married Anne Beert in 1936.

She died in 1949. He then married Charlotte Whalen in 1950. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 532 and Teamsters Local 371. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Ruth Ann (Mrs. Ron) Quick, Rosalene Walsh and Mrs.

George Warner, all of Davenport; Mrs. Michael Bowen, Farmington Hills, and Mrs. Keith Tomlin, Rockford, a son, Charles, Higganum, 23 grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Harold D'Autremont, Davenport, and Ina Ward, Alpha, III; and a brother, Theodore, Kewanee, 111. Lynn Ralston Lynn A.

Ralston, 71, of 1708 W. 8th Davenport, died Tuesday at Veteran's Administration Hospital, Iowa City. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Runge Chapel. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.

Visitation is 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday. He retired in 1976 from Churchill Lines. He had been a truck driver for 30 years. Mr.

Ralston married Dorothy Brauer in 1961 in Davenport. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Teamsters Local 371. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Judi (Mrs. Carl) Hark-sen, Davenport, and Edna (Mrs.

Donald) Dohse, Clinton, Iowa; sons, Douglas, Dixon; Russell Thompson, Centerville, Iowa; and Gary and Jeffrey Ralston, both at home; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Hasty, Zion, 111. Bettendorf Luke Chicoski Services for Luke M. Chicoski, 78, a resident of Bettendorf Health Care Center, formerly of Davenport, will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today. Mr. Chicoski died Monday at the center. He retired several years ago after 20 years at the Rock Island Arsenal.

Mr. Chicoski married Cora Schluter in 1969 in Davenport. She died in 1981. He was a 20-year Army veteran, serving 31 months in the combat zone in World War II. He was a member of Rock Island Veterans of Foreign Wars and St.

Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. Survivors include a sister, Martha Whitaker, Dallas; brothers, Louis, Portland, and Charles, North Little Rock, and nieces and nephews. Area Deaths George Weber COLUMBUS Iowa George Lyle Weber, 75, of Columbus Junction died Monday at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Columbus Junction Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation is after noon today at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established. He had owned and operated Weber Huston grain elevator, Columbus Junction.

Mr. Weber married Helen "Nell" Kelleher in 1933 in Ames, Iowa. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the church; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Columbus Junction; and Cedar Crest Country Club; served as board member of Columbus Junction State Bank and Colonial Manor; and former Columbus Junction mayor. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Katherine Weber, Culver City, a son, James, Simi Valley, a granddaughter; sisters, Dorothy Steffa, Fort Myers, and Ruth Kuney, Des Moines; and brothers, Farrel and Karl, both of Fort Myers, and Paul, Houston.

Zella Anderson CRAWFORDSVILLE, Iowa Zella Rebecca Anderson, 82, of Crawfordsville died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Winfield Cemetery. Visitation is after noon Thursday.

The family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. A memorial has been established. Zella Harter married Charlee Anderson in 1930 in Burlington. She was a member of a Presbyterian church. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Billie Rose, Crawfordsville; and two grandchildren.

Marie Craig NEPONSET, 111. Marie Craig, 91, of Neponset died Monday at St Mary's Hospital, Galesburg. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cavanagh-Schueneman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens.

Visitation is 1 pm. to service time Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Neponset Congregational Church, of which she was a member. She had been a teacher in Neponset Marie Holdridge married LeRoy Craig in 1919. He died in 1963.

She was a member of Neponset Senior Citizens; Thursday Club; and Women's Clubs, Neponset and Mineral. Survivors include sons, Robert, Altona, and Marvin, Neponset; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Teen says gang assaulted him A Davenport teen-ager told police he was assaulted by a group of males who identified themselves as members of a gang, and Buspected he was a member of a rival gang. The youth was struck in the face after he and a friend were approached by about 15 people in the 300 block of W. 12th Street about 1:30 am.

Monday. The group confronted the two boys, identified themselves as the Vice Lords and said they suspected the two belonged to another gang. One of the boys escaped, but the other was struck three times. He received a minor facial injury. Veterans can call about burial eligibility Veterans and their families with questions about burial eligibility at Rock Island National Cemetery should call or visit during National Consumers Week this week.

The 28-acre facility, operated by the Veterans Administration, is open for burial to all honorably discharged military veterans, their spouses and children under 18. Burial is provided free of charge. The surviving spouse or dependent may be buried before the veteran. The VA will provide a headstone or marker, with inscription, for each person buried in the veteran's gravesite in a national cemetery. Headstones or markers are also furnished by the VA for gravesites of veterans at private and state-owned veteran's cemeteries.

He retired in 1963 after 36 years at the former John Deere Moline PlowPlanter Works. Mr. Boens married Laura Gremonprez in 1927 in East Moline. She died in 1954. He then married Elisabeth DePlancke in 1957 in Moline.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Jo Shay, East Moline; a stepdaughter, Susan Calvert, Moline; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hilda Fleischman, Moline. West Liberty OKs lower electric rates WEST LIBERTY, Iowa The City Council approved lower electric rates Tuesday, passing on savings they will reap from a new contract with Iowa Electric Light Power Co.
