Fremont News-Messenger Thursday, Jan. 20, 1972 Fremont, Area Deaths And Funerals Mrs. Mabel G. Smith Mrs. Mabel G.

Smith, 73, wife of Clyde H. Smith, 1304 County Road 94, died Wednesday at 9:05 p.m. in Memorial hospital, where she had been admitted January 5. Mrs. Smith had been failing for several months.

Surviving with the husband, Clyde, to whom she was married February 28, 1928 in Bowling Green, are sons, Ronald Smith, Chandler, and a son by a previous marriage, Harold Aldrich, Auburn, daughters, Mrs. Timothy (Joan) Shanahan, Fremont; a daughter by the previous marriage, Miss Helen Aldrich, Sandusky; stepchildren, Mrs. Robert (Theodora) Gardner, Genoa; Stanley Smith, Arlington; Mrs. Lonnie (Phyllis) Shelby, Columbia, and Mrs. Walter (Alice) Grasser, Toledo; 19 grandchildren and 23 greatgrandchildren.

A brother is deceased. Mrs. Smith was born November 5, 1898, in Seneca county, daughter of Truman and Mary Sinclair Hummel. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist church, Helena; Women's Society for Christian Service and a former member of the Grange, Ladies Aid and Missionary Society. Friends will be received at the Veh and Son funeral home, Gibsonburg, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Henry Perrin OAK HARBOR- -Henry Perrin, 40, 211 east Water street, senior technician specialist in the engineering department of Brush-Wellman, Elmore, for years, collapsed while playing basketball Wednesday evening in St. Boniface church gymnasium.

He was dead on arrival at Magruder hospital, Port Clinton, at 9:30 p.m. Mr. Perrin was born July 12, 1931, in Toledo, son of James B. and Mildred H. Banks Perrin.

He married June R. Noble in Maumee October 19, 1956. Mr. Perrin attended Bowling Green State university, Toledo university and the University Maryland. He was a member of the American Association of Metals, and the American Institute of Metallurgical Engineers.

He served in the Air Force during the Korean action. Surviving are his wife June; a son, Henry and a daughter, Susan June, at home; his parents in Toledo; brothers, James P. Swanton; David Perrysburg, and William Toledo; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Pearl Connons, Seal Beach, Calif. Friends may call at the Robinson funeral home beginning Friday at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Howard D. Preston will conduct funeral services Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with burial in Union cemetery. Presbytery Honors Rev.

Day Kennedy The Rev. Day Kennedy, in a recognition ceremony at Maumee Presbytery, was given a golden plaque and cross Tuesday evening at the First Presbyterian Church in Findlay. Rev. Day has served 19 years as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church near Pemberville. Eight members from that church attended Presbytery.

Four of them paid verbal tribute to Rev. Kennedy and his wife. They were Mrs. Betty Phillips and Kathy Phillips also Larry Goetz, superintendent of the Sunday School and Helen Welling. During January, Dr.

J. R. Walter of Fremont is the guest pastor for the Scotch Ridge Church. A necrology report and memorial service was held for members of Presbytery who died during 1971. It was conducted by the Rev.

J. Miller Gold, General Presbyter. The Rev. George Walton, who was formerly pastor of the Fremont East Side Presbyterian Church, was the only minister who died during 1971. It.

was reported that progress was being made in merging, the synods of Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky into one synod. Organizing cost of this procedure will be $21,000 for the local Presbytery. It was announced that the U.S. Council of Churches will hold an area meeting April 17 and 18 in Toledo at the Commodore Perry Motor Inn. David Gill of Australia and Philip Potter of Jamaica will be two speakers.

Delegates to Presbytery from the Fremont First Presbyterian Church were Donn Jones, James Rauch, William Masur, Dr. J. R. Walter and the the Rev. Robert Geyer.

The Rev. Franklin Sparks represented the East Side Presbyterian Church and the Rev. Everet Delware, the Erie Presbyerian Church. The next meeting of Presbytery will be Feb. 15 at Bowling Green.

Around About Fremont MRS. ART (JUDY) WISE, 3643 Hayes, was transferred from the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo to Fremont Memorial hospital after undergoing surgery last week. Visitors are limited but cards would be appreciated. MRS. VIOLA FOOS, MORRIson street, was transferred from Memorial hospital to Flower hospital, Toledo, by ambulance.

ANDREW ILER, 38 1081 McKinley street, was treated in Memorial hospital Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for a superficial laceration of the abdomen. He had been hurt Tuesday night in a bar. FREMONT CAMERA CLUB will meet Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Birchard public library.

Members and guests are asked to use the High street entrance. There will be installation of officers and a showing of a film on "Color Outside Photo." BIRCHARD PUBLIC Library will hold its usual Friday morning story hour at 10 for registered pre-school children. Main Office in Marblehead Orland I L. Lahrman GIBSONBURG Orland L. Lahrman, 81, 319 south Main street, died Wednesday at 11:25 p.m. in Fremont Memorial hospital. He had been in failing health six months and hospitalized since January 7.

He had retired from the Standard Lime Born November 3, 1890 in Helena, Mr. Lahrman was the son of John and Cora Connet Lahrman. He married Arvada Dodway and she survives with one daughter, Mrs. Maldetta Hiles, Sugar Grove, two grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son and two sisters.

Mr. Lahrman was a member of Faith United Methodist church. Friends may call at the Veh and Son funeral home beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. The Rev. Thomas McGranor will conduct funeral services Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

in the mortuary with burial in Trinity cemetery, Risingsun. Lewin Services Funeral services for Mrs. Ada M. Lewin, 101 west Rich avenue, DeLand, were Wednesday in the Ochs funeral home. The Rev.

A. J. Klopfer of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church officiated with burial in Oakwood cemetery. Mrs.

Lewin was the wife of A. Gordon Lewin. She died Sunday in a nursing center in DeLand after an illness of five months. She had resided in Toledo. Her mother was the former Mary Klaiss of Fremont.

Mrs. Charlene Sebok TIFFIN--The body of Mrs. Charlene Sebok, 29, Route 1, Tiffin, was found by her husband, Robert, in the garage at their home Wednesday. Dr. Oswald Burkart, Seneca county coroner, ruled the death a suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.

The husband said the motor of the car was still running when the body was found. Surviving are her husband; her mother, Mrs. Evelyn J. Ottesen, and a brother, Douglas J. of Toledo.

The body is the Reeb mortuary, Sylvania, where friends may call. Private services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the mortuary and memorial services will be at 11 a.m. in Memorial Lutheran church. Dale C.

Kellogg Dale Kellogg To Speak To Kin-Hunters Dale C. Kellogg of Elyria will speak at the Kin-Hunters meeting at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 23, at Birchard Public Library, Fremont. His talk, "Down The Kin-Hunters will discuss ways of solving family history research problems. Kellogg is a native of Norwalk, and chairman of the Firelands Kinologists, genealogy division of the Firelands Historical Society.

He was founder of the Genealogical workshop, of the Lorain County Historical Society and is teaching a beginners' course in genealogy at Lorain County Community College this winter. His writings include books on the Kellogg, Palmer, Sawtell and Underwood families. The meeting is sponsored by the Sandusky County Historical Society and visitors are welcome. Thaddeus B. Hurd of Clyde is the society's Genealogy supervisor.

A new publication, "'Dates and authored by him, will be issued free at the meeting. Mrs. Leonor Garcia A funeral Mass for Mrs. Leonor Garcia, 67, wife of Ramon Garcia, 1299 Franklin avenue, is tentatively set for Saturday at 1 p.m. in St.

Joseph church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Garcia died Wednesday in Memorial hospital where she had been a patient since January 2. Mrs.

Garcia was born July 30, 1904, in Texas, daughter of Dionicio and Rosa Rodriquez De Leon. She was married in Texas July 31, 1925. Surviving are the husband, Ramon; sons and daughters, Joel Garcia, Corpus Christie, Elizar Garcia in Florida; Mrs. Adelina Rodriques, Fremont; Mrs. Felismer Aguirre, Dallas, Edelmoro Garcia, Janacio Garcia, Fremont; Ernesto Garcia, Green Springs; Mrs.

Sulema Sanchez in Florida, and Armando Garcia, Fremont. There are two brothers in Texas and one in California. Surviving also are her mother, Mrs. Rosa DeLeon in Fresno, 29 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Her father and one brother are deceased.

Mrs. Garcia was a member of St. Ann church. Friends will be received at the Karlovetz mortuary after 7 p.m. Thursday.

Distel Services TIFFIN -Funeral services for Joseph Distel, 87, of 22 Cottage avenue, were held Thursday morning in St. Joseph Catholic church. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Distel, brother of Miss Josephine Distel, Green Springs, died in Mercy hospital -Tuesday.

He was a butcher and stock buyer. He married Adelaide Fate in St. Joseph church on October 19,1910. Survivors are his wife; a son, Bernard, Tiffin; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth A.

Griffin and Mrs. Richard (Hildegarde) Weatherholt, both Tiffin, and Mrs. Robert (Catherine) Crist, Lansing, brothers, William and Jacob, both Tiffin, and Louis of Orange City, sisters, Mrs. Robert Frankart, Tiffin, and Miss Emma Distel, Tiffin; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. A lifelong resident of Tiffin, he was born there January 15, 1885, the son of Bernard and Kathryn (Studer) Distel.

Saam Services Funeral services for Darl L. Saam, 51, 521 south Buchanan street, inspector at Whirlpool Corporation, Clyde, were Wednesday in the Karlovetz mortuary. The Rev. Franklin Sparks of the East Side Presbyterian church officiated with burial in Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Paul Woessner, Raymond Markwith, Frank Mattson, Jack Upton, Walter Schmidt and Al Rohrbacher.

Mr. Saam died Sunday in Good Samaritan hospital, Sandusky, where he had been admitted December 30. Morrison Services Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Rose Morrison, 85, former resident of 903 south Pennsylvania avenue, were Wednesday in the Keller and Son funeral home. Dr.

J.R. Walter and the Rev. Robert Geyer officiated with burial in Oakwood cemetery. Mrs. Morrison, widow of Harry J.

Morrison, former mail carriers, died Sunday in the Norworth Convalescent Home, Worthington, Ohio. Pallbearers were Raymond Sprunk, Thomas Stout, Robert Culbert, Louis Dorr, V.O. Howey and Don Gaster. Vogt Services The Rev. John Mittermaier conducted funeral services for Mrs.

Martha O. Vogt, 84, 1238 County Road 244, Wednesday in Grace Lutheran church. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery with the Keller and Son funeral home in charge. Mrs. Vogt died Sunday in Memorial hospital, where she had been a patient since December 28.

Mrs. Vogt was the widow of W. Arthur Vogt, who died in 1955. Pallbearers were J. Robert Martin, Homer Siebert, Carl Worth and Walter Zilles.

Temperatures before dawn ranged from 18 below zero in Cut Bank, to 72 at Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Unseasonably mild weather continued across Ohio today. Baker, 1168 west Main street, Bellevue, who earlier pleaded innocent to a charge of contributing to the neglect of a 12-year-old boy, changed his plea to guilty in Seneca county juvenile court and was found guilty. He was given a 90-day suspended jail sentence and was placed on probation and assessed costs.

Market Market Report NEW YORK (AP) Stock market prices held to modest gains in moderate trading today, showing little inclination to advance. The Dow Jones average of 30 industrials at noon was up 1.81 at 916.77. Advances outnumbered declines on the New York Stock Exchange by 5 to 3. Analysts said the market was anticipating possible favorable comments from President Nixon when he gives his State of the Union message later today. Also, the Investment Company Institute reported that mutual fund sales exceeded redemptions last month.
