Erie and Orion high schools brought large cheering sections to Tuesday night's final round first round games but their teams were unable to make enough noise on the floor and were eliminated by Rock Island and East Moline, respectively. East Moline fired in 11 of 19 attempts from the floor in the opening quarter and Craig Davis picked up 10 markers during that time. Davis and Darren" Samuels started to control the boards in the second period and the Panthers quickly widened their lead to 13 points. Orion came back with three steals and follow-up goals to bring the Charger fans to their feet, but East Moline was far in front at 45-26 at halftime.

trimmed Orion 90-49 while Rock Island raced past Erie 69-59. In tonight's opening semifinal round game Moline and Rock Island Alleman collide at 8 p.m. The Panthers and Rocks clash on Thursday and the title game is on tap for Friday. The Rocks-Erie Cardinal clash was a feature of two fast-moving clubs. After a major defensive battle in the first quarter, at which time Rock Island led 8-7, Coach Bob Riley's team moved out with a 27-point second period behind the board work of reserve Bruce Hamming.

Hamming entered the game late in the first quarter and picked up 12 points by half-time, as the Rocks led 35-21. The lanky sophomore finished the game with 24 points. Rock Island went in front by 14 points at one time in the third quarter but Erie started its comeback in the closing minutes of the period and trailed by 10 at the start of the final stanza. Behind the shooting and rebounding of Kent Johnson, the swift Cardinals cut the gap to 59-55 with 2:33 left to play in the game. A minute later the Rocks were back up by six and then they finished off Erie with seven straight points in the final 1:10 of action.

Northwestern's big halftime lead was largely due to the Wildcats' control of the boards. Northwestern outre-bounded the Badgers 25-15 before intermission. LU Hit Tuesdee Testa To Ride Today By ASSOCIATED PRESS Tuesdee Testa and Diane Crump, both of whom own victories as girl jockeys in thoroughbred racing, will be riding again this week. Mrs. Testa, who last Saturday became the first feminine jockey to win on a major thoroughbred race track, drew another mount for today's racing at Santa Anita she will ride Buz On, whom she piloted to victory.
