He had been telephoned for but up to the time of hifl arrival at the scene of the -disaster, he was not aware that his" daughter had perished. As soon as ho drove into the gato he received' tho crushing intelligence that his daughter had succumbed and that all that remained of her was a. charred and blackened crisp, he was totally overcome. At first he hardly comprehended the los3 he had sustained;" but as the full import of the information was forced upon him, he left those who surrounded him and retired, a short time to weep alone and meditate over the'awful calamity' which had overtaken him. Tho girl, who was fourteen years of age last October, id said to have been very prepossessing and" amiable in character.

Her mother, who was a piece of Mrs. Shaw's, died a year or two since, and Olive had been entrusted, to Mr. Shaw's" care: and by her winning ways she had captured their good feelings and was well liked by all the family, Mr. Shaw'6 little girl whq, perished was six years old the 23d of last January and was a promisingchild. In addition td the injuries Mrs.

Shaw received from bur ding, the lady received a eovere injury- by cutting her wrist withr a piece of glass.in breaking one of, the windows. The blood flowed freely, and, but for the prompt arrival of l)r. John Priv-er it is thought the lady wouliLhavo died from loss of blood. It is said Mr. Shaw presents a terrible appearance in consequence of the in--jurieti she ha9 sustained.

Her rlugs were cut off her fingers this morning, as it was impossible to removo them by any other means. The funeral services will be held oyer the remains of both tho unfor-tunategirls to-morrojy, two p.m. At tho close, the remains of Mr, Shaw's daughter will be interred in, the Ogden Cemetery, and the remains of Mr. Jones' daughter will be taken to North Ogden, At that place Bervices will again be hejd ou Saturday, in order that all tho friends of the deeeseed may 'havo the privilege of attending, Mr. Shaw, desires to return hia heartfelt thanks to the firemen and the numerous friends who assisted, for their -indefatigable efforts to save the lives of the victims and also to save the property.

Tho sa4 event has a gloom over the residents of Mound Fort in particular, of Osrden in general, and every person has only sympathy to express for Mr. and Mrs, Shaw anil Mr. Jones in their Irreparable loss. origin of Uie fire is as yet unknown, but it is claimed that the fatal flames' started' in kitchen, Mr. Shaw's house was a fine two story brick structure and contained four rooms.

There was a porch on the front and a balcony above. There were in the house at the time, Mr- Ambrose Shaw, hta wife Minerva, their four children-three boys and one girl and a girl named Olivo Naomi Jones, a relative of Mr, Shaw's. Mr. Sbawi hi i wife and the three boys, the oldest about nine years of of ago and the, youngest about six months old, were sleeping in the south room up stairs and the girl Jones and Mr. Shaw'a daughter Milly, occupied the north room.

Mrs. Shaw was the first to discover the existence of a fire and she immediately awoke her husband who rushed down staira to investigate. On getting down to the ground floor he discovered that he alono was. unable to check the progress of the devouring element and.ho then turned to go up stairs with the intention of rescuing hia. family.

Rut the flames were already making rapid progress up stairs their onslaught being accelerated by the draught created by the now open doors. He therefore rushed out on the porch, and called to his wife to hand the children to him. The lady succeeded in rescuing the frightened and only half awake boys, and then turn-ed her attention to the girls. frantically dashed into the room while the "flames were greedily lapping the. walls with their lurid tongues and dense volumes of smoke were rolling up through the floors.

She seized the inanimate form of the older girl, and dragged her to the head of the stairway, when she stumbled and fell; the lady found that any further efforts were uselefisif plie wished he self to. escape. Mrs. Shaw by this time was frightfully burned, Jier hands and anus were in a frightful condition and her face had also been burned considerably. She relinquished all hopes of saving the children and with her hands sore and in a perfect jelly she clambered dawn from the balcony the posts of which at this time were rapidly succumbing a 1 1 A Wl.

Murray's statement of tho matter is-that some' weeks ago Trcsedcr approached him on the subject of the deed previously alluded to, and guaranteed hlai $1,500 each for Ireland and Dickson, and 500 for making a ghost of Deputy Franks. Murray pre tended to accede to Ina offer, and on Monday night received from Trcsefjer ptol and, a. mask, arid agreed to meet Mm at the skating rink after the job was done. In the granary a largo arnojnt of grain was stoted, in addition to a large stock of potatoes. A small quantity of the grain was saved and the rest was much dam- aged by water and the fire. The amount of the damage will reach several thousand dollars, and there was insurance on a portion of tho total sum.

As quickly' as possible a search was made for the remains of the nnfor-tunat6 girls who it was. impossible to rescue. jSvcryposaiblo effort in this direetiou was made; but of no avail. It is generally believed that the girl Jone3 was dead from suffocation when Mrs. Shaw dragged her from her bed.

Charred and blackened they presented an awful spectacle, and stro'ng'hcarts and mpn of iron nerve sickened at the terriblo sight, while gritf at tho awful fate which had overtaken the maidens was expressed by all who present and saw 'their charred remains gathered together.
