Headline correction A headline on the front page of Friday's paper mistakenly reported what types of levies four area school districts are seeking on Tuesday's ballot.

Three of the four are seeking renewals. Lakota, however, is on its second try for an income tax, which would be new for the district. Main Bellevue. James M. Riffle June 25, 1923 April 30, 1998 James M. Riffle, Woodville, died Thursday at the Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center in Ottawa, Ohio. He was 74.

Born in Oreton, Ohio, he was the son of James S. and Elizabeth (Peoples) Riffle. On Dec. 30, 1950, he married Irene P. Hohlfelder and she survives.

Mr. Riffle worked as a kiln operator for the former Ohio Lime Co. in Woodville for 43 years retiring August 1, 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the State Association of the American Legion and the Woodville United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed working around his home. Also surviving Mr. Riffle are daughter Lou Ann Hoiles of Wayne; sons Larry A. Riffle of Fremont and David L. Riffle of Genoa; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Jerry Riffle of Woodville; and sister Minnie Mae Cameron of Columbus.

He was preceded by his parents; brothers Sherman, Norman, Virgil and Roy Riffle; and sisters Opal Huston, Dorothy Camp and Jessie Simpson. Visitation: 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday with family present 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robinson-HennBrossia Funeral Home, Woodville. Services: 11 a.m.

Powell D. Greene, 22, accused of shooting and killing 31-yearold Anthony Hoffman on Nov. 16, 1996, faces life imprisonment if convicted next week in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court. Co-defendant Earl Jackson, 30, of Morrison is charged with felonious assault with a weapon and having a weapon while under felony conviction.

He faces up to 11 years in prison if convicted. Stanley Graham, 37, of South Park Avenue is charged with obstruction of justice and having a weapon while under felony conviction. He is suspected of three days, suspended. No further violations: 12 months. Stanley Lindsey, 41, last known address 510 Birchard Ave.

Jail: five days, suspended. disposing of the murder weapon, which was never recovered. Hoffman was shot as he walked along the sidewalk in the 300 block of Tiffin Street in the early morning hours that Saturday. Police believe Greene shot Hoffman in the leg, struck him over the head with a gun and shot him in the head at close range. In addition to the aggravated murder charge, Greene is charged with felonious assault for allegedly striking Hoffman with the gun.

Police said Jackson shot at a car occupied by Bellevue resident Rodney Lewis, who had dropped Hoffman off on Tiffin Street and was driving away when the shooting occurred. Jury selection is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. A witness list is not being released before trial, however, a 27-year-old Fremont man recently convicted of drug conspiracy charges in federal court is expected to testify Tuesday, according to court records. Furnell Osbin pleaded guilty April 22 in U.S. District Court to one count of drug conspiracy in connection with an organized drug ring operated out of Fremont. He faces eight years to life in prison.

According to Osbin's plea agreement in federal court, he must cooperate with the government and any federal, state or local law enforcement agencies when needed.
