This wildly entertaining concoction is one of the few genuinely satirical musicals of the last few years Writer Richard O'Brien and director Jim Sharman have simply come up with a campy combustion of horror flicks, '50s culture, rock music, and gay lib and crammed it on stage in the best tacky taste imaginable Picture two true-blue, a stranded outside a forbod- mg castle one rainy night The door opens, they explain their predicament to a hunch-backed henchman and are soon led to Frank Furter (Tim Curry), a man of unique tastes who begins singing about "A Sweet Transvestite from Transylvania And that's pretty much how things go for the next intennissionless 90 minutes at the Roxy Theatre on i We see Frank's homemade tarzan- hke monster (Kim Milford), two Warhol-like assistants (Bom Enten and Jamie Donnelly), and the wheel- a i i (Meat Loaf) who pieces the plot together at the end. Though the entire cast -including Graham Jan is as narrator along with Abigale Haness, Mi'ler, and Los Angeles E1VIC LIGHT OPERA 37th Annual Seasin MUSIC CENTFR PAVfUON. 3 OUTSTANDING MUSICAL SHOWS on Season Bruce Scott is exceptional, it's Curry's outrageous -mad scientist who's likely to have the whole town talking. Mincing around like the personification of every Hollywood heroine of the '40s, Curry manages to be both accurate and funny in his portrayal.

With Its pulsating rock music and satirical sexual candor, "Rocky" is definitely not for "The Student Prince" crowd. Still, if you're willing to accept a musical with 10 times the usual flamboyance, you'll have no trouble being delighted by this sure success Anyone who goes to "A Community of Two'' expecting Claudette Colbert to come stepping out on stage at the Shubert portraying some kind of crazy grandma ax murderess had better go back to the early show. Miss Colbert is too busy expertly recreating the late show -or rather, one of the fluffy, sophisticated comedies she graced and gained fame for during the '30s and '40s. The fact is simply that Jerome Chodorov's comedy is a hit and Miss Colbert is quite wonderful in it. We've all heard of Theatre of Fact and Theatre of the Absurd well, here's Theatre of Fun The star portrays a recent divorcee who graciously bids farewell to her spouse in the hall of her co-op before realizing (on a snowy, New York night) that she's looked herself out.

Across the hall, a gray-haired Big Bad Wolf (George Gaynes) offers her all the comforts of home his! From this slender premise, playwrigh? Chodorov and charmer Colbert weave a funny evening of predictable amusement, highlighted by the unexpected in the Continued on Next Simulcast Set Zubiri Mehta and the Los Angeles Philharmonic will be heard today in stereo over KPFK, 90.7FM, and seen simultaneously on KCET, Channel 28, in a presentation of Mahler's Symphony No. 1, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Music lovers are invited to place their TV sets between their stereo speakers, to recreate the concert hall quality of the broadcast.
