Kindred Healthcare Inc. provided prescriptions to Tenn Care patients living in group homes or long-term care facilities statewide, the attorney general said. The company billed for more drugs than it administered between 2003 and 2006, and a billing clerk reported the discrepancies, state officials said. Kindred denied any wrongdoing but agreed to pay the settlement and $496,000 in penalties.

RANDY MCC LAIN THE TENNESSEAN Health insurance is session topic The Tennessee Health Care Campaign will sponsor a conference on changes in health insurance and new methods of delivering health care in America as the debate in Congress on health reform picks up steam. The Nashville conference will be jtme 19-20 at the Scarritt-Bennett Center. Participants will include: Christine Barber, senior policy analyst at Commu TV signal In the meantime, no TV "makes you read and get outside a lot more," she said. Broadcasters said most of the questions on Friday were either from people such as Katie We lls, who had put off taking action, or people who had technical problems.

NPT and News Channel 5 were switching to different channels Friday, which required viewers to rescan converter boxes or digital TVs, usually by pushing a button on the menu of the TV's remote control. Other questions revolved around antenna problems, broadcasters said. "Digital TV is more demanding in terms of antennas," said Kevin Crane, the vice president of programming and teclmology for NPT. "The picture is either beautiful or it's tmwatchable." That means some TV viewers will be forced to buy attic or rooftop antennas to get TV signals after the digital switch, unless they pay for a cable or satellite subscription. Others may have to move their indoor antenna or buy a new indoor antenna that gets VHF and UHF signals.

In Nashville Public Television's studio early Friday afternoon, four staff members took telephone calls from confused or frustrated viewers. NPT had taken about 50 phone calls between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, but was expecting more in the prime viewing hours Friday evening. Fox 17 in Nashville had made its switch on Feb.

17. WKRN-TV, Channel 2, was scheduled to make the switch at 11:59 p.m. Friday, a minute before midnight, nearly 24 hours after the other major broadcasters locally had done it. The Associated Press contributed. Free Tours Saturday 9am 5pm and Sunday noon 5pm Tickets are limited.

DIGITAL FROM 5B those less likely to be prepared for the analog shutdown. The Commerce Department reported a last-minute rush for $40 converter box coupons. It received 319,990 requests Thursday nearly four times the daily average for the past month. In all, the government has mailed coupons for almost 60 million converter boxes. The limit is two coupons per household.

It takes nine business days for a coupon to reach the mailbox. More channels to watch The Nielsen Co. had estimated earlier in the week that about 19,200 people in the Nashville area, or 1.9 percent, were completely unprepared for digital TV. Still more may lose signals in a few TVs in the house, like the kids' bedroom or the kitchen, if they're not hooked up to cable or satellite subscriptions. The Federal Communications Commission mandated the switch to digital TV to free up airwaves for emergency communications and wireless telecommtmications providers, who paid the federal government $19 billion in auctions last year.

The benefit to consumers has been more channels. Nashville-area residents should be getting 17 to 22 channels now, about three times as many as they were getting with analog TV. But the move left Katie We lls, 31, and her husband, Greg, without a signal in Nashville. Greg Wells stayed up on the couch Thursday night to watch Nashville Public Television go dark shortly after midnight on Friday. Katie Wells said the couple Special Prize Drawings-this weekend only!
