One western college boy said: "I've had more fun in Boise, Idaho, on a Sunda night!" Claudia Cardinale's strategi cally combed hairdo saves her from appearing completely in the nude for a scene in her Burt Lancaster Lee Marvin movie for Columbia, "The Professionals." Those who have seen the film say Lancaster and Marvin are an unbeatable combo, but it'll be tough try ing to convince them. The 2 stars thoroughly dislike each other. Remember Wanda Hendrix? She shows up in an advert for a garbage disposal in the September issue of House and Garden Joey Heatherton, who should realize that actresses become stars by working, turned down an opportunity to co-star with Elvis Presley in his nexl flick, "Easy Come, Easy Go." Susannah Leigh will play the part, with Skip Ward getting featured billing. Craig Stevens, who is play- Ing his "Peter Gunn" role in the first movie based on the TVer, will ibe the only member of the video cast to show up in the movie. Herschel Bernardi, who played the police lieutenant, is too busy portraying the lead in the Broadway "Fiddler on the Roof." For some reason, producer Blake Edwards decided he didn't want Lola Albright playing Gunn's love interest in the flick.

Hollywood insiders are still chuckling about he-man Sean Connery, who blew that image, around Warner Bros, while filming "A Fine Madness" for that studio. By ALEX FREEMAN toss him into a trash can. He couldn't do it. After more than a dozen tries, studio technicians built a shallow platform for the extra to stand on and had 2 men out of camera range help Connery heave him over. Frank Sinatra not one of my favorite people does a lot of nice things that he tries to hide. This is one of them.

Frank contributed a good-size sum for a memorial honoring old father of Cardinal Spell- a n's secretary, monsignor Schultheiss Johnny Carson shelled out more than $160,000 for his new cooperative apartment in New York. Richard Kallman, star of TV's recently conceled "Hank," Is talking wedding talk with pretty Pat Stander, widow of writer Art Stander. Pat is one of the LA Dodgers better-known fans. It's because she insists she's a witch and attends every Dodger game to put the hex on the opposition. Every 3.4 days a new museum is opened somewhere in the recently deceased 94-year- the United States.

TV Previews p.m. NBC. TARZAN. "Eyes of the Lion." (Color) (Premiere) You won't find Jane or Boy in this new series; as a matter of fact, you'll find an entirely new concept of Tarzan, one'which goes back to the original Edgar Rice Burroughs character. This Tarzan, played by Ron Ely, is an educated, sophisticated fellow who knows all about everything and lives in the jungle by preference.

He even has a sense of humor. Also starred is Manuel Padilla Jr. as Jai, a small native boy who is Tarzan's friend and intermediary with civilization. The photography is superb and Ely is most attractive. Primarily for kids, but the grownups might enjoy it for a change.

p.m. ABC. BATMAN. "Walk the Straight and Narrow." (Color) Holy perfidy! Batman and Robin were right! The Archer (guest villain played by Art Carney) is indeed a no-good- nik, and although the public thinks he is a new hero who robs the rich and gives to the poor, actually he is after the funds in the Wayne Foundation poverty program. Carney is an excellent new villain for this crazy series.

:30 p.m. NBC. STAR TREK. "The Man Trap." (Color) (Premiere) Another entry in the TV science fiction competition. This one involves the USS Enterprise, an enormous space ship with a crew of 400.

(including 100 females) which is rolling through the heavens on a 5-year study of the rest of the universe. The ship will not return to earth during the period. William Shatner plays Capt. James T. Kirk, Leonard Nimoy Mr.

Spock, the chief science officer, and regulars Include chief medical officer Dr. Leonard McCoy (Deforest Kelley), Yeoman Janice Rand, the female exec (Grace Lee Whitney) and Helmsman Sulu (George Takei.) Usual far-fetched suppositions, but Shatner is an excellent actor and the plots are well written. This looks like a pretty good one. p.m. ABC.

TAMMY GRIMES SHOW. "Officers' Mess." (Premiere) If you like the foggy voice, secret smile and enormous eyes of Miss Grimes, you will love this show which is purely and simply a vehicle for her "kooky" image. p.m. NBC. THE HERO.

"A Night to Remember to Forget." (Color) (Premiere) Richard Mulligan stars in this series about Sam Garret, a TV cowboy star who is the savior of the west on his weekly series but in real life is a well-meaning bumbler, frightened by horses and allergic to sagebrush. Mariette Hartley plays his wife, Ruth. There's an annoying laugh-track and the usual amount of predictable gags, but the premise is lumorous and Mulligan does a good job with it. p.m. ABC.

THAT GIRL "Don't Just Do Something, Stand There." (Color) (Premiere) The title role is an aspiring young ctress named Ann Marie, played by Mario Thomas, Danny's aughter. The series revolves around her adventures while try- ng to make it big in her chosen vocation and still manage to at and pay the rent. Ted Bessell co-stars as Don Hollinger, a foung executive with Newsview Magazine, who is Ann's best beau. Her disapproving parents are played by Lew Parker and iosamary DeCamp. 9-10 p.m.

ABC. HAWK. "Do Not Mutilate or Spindle." (Col- (Premiere) This may turn out to be one of the best of the eason. It is about a New York police detective working the lightside, and the outdoor sequences were fibned entirely at light on the streets of New York. The detective is a full- looded-Indian, Lt.

John Hawk, and he is played expertly vith sullen competence by Burt Reynolds, who you may remember as blacksmith Quint Asper in "Gunsmoke." It's a fast, violent and well-written series, reeking with authenticity, and Reynolds does a very fine job indeed. His assistant, Detective Carter, is played by Wayne Grice. The casts are large and the guest stars of fine caliber. This one is well worth watching. Guests include Louise Sorel, Elaine Nadeau, John Marley, Gene Hackman and Fred Wayne.
