Dr. Dudley Stennis, accompanied his sister, Miss Mary, and daughter, Miss Martha, visited Jackson and Mi-gee last Monday. L. G. White was in New Orleans the latter part of last week, where he went for further examination and treatment for his health.

Miss Mattie Roberts, agent at Roberts, attended the meeting of the G. M. N. R. R.

N. H. Crenshaw, cashier of First National Bank and family in Jackson, visited in the home of Mrs. Crenshaw's sister, Mrs. J.

B. Moore of Morgan City, are visiting her mother, Mrs. D. H. Norman, near here this week.

Mrs. Morgan will be remembered as Miss Pearl Norman. T. H. Gatlin of New Orleans, visited relatives here last weekend, his niece, Mrs.

W. R. McDonald, and brother, Jim, and also another brother, Rev. H. A.

Gatlin, Presiding Elder. Miss Bessie Gay of Brooklyn, was a week-end visitor in the home of her aunt, Mrs. Merle Holladay, and went from here home with Mrs. W. J.

Chapman, where she will visit relatives. Mr. and Mrs. M. G.

Scarborough are leaving today for Philadelphia for a short sojourn before taking up their school work in Leake county. They have taken three, months of summer work at Clarke College. M. S. Buckley was called to Dallas, Texas, the fetter part of last week on account of the serious illness of his brother, Rube, who "resides in that city.

Mr. Buckley has returned and reports his brother as improving. Supt. J. W.

C. Weems is back at home in Newton with her daughter, Mrs. H. E. Watts, after spending several weeks with another daughter in Shubuta.

Bridges, who is in Pea-body College, in which he states that he is working hard, preparing himself to "make Newton the very best school man and is very enthusiastic over the prospects for next session. We might say in this connection that he will receive his Masters Degree before returning home some time in August.

Lamar Alford, traveling salesman for Upjohn Drug Company, with headquarters in Monroe, in renewing his subscription to The Newton Record has the following to say: 'It is a pleasure for me to renew my subscription. The' Newton Record is a source of pleasure to me, and through it I keep in touch with a town that is very close to me. I am very busy indeed these days, but not too busy to remember the happy days spent in Newton with the best people I know." Alexander of Union, and Misses Ruby and Lois Monroe of Miss Lois, who will teach mathematics and history in the Elementary School of Catchings, is classic fied as a Junior. Miss Ruby, the English teacher of Scott County A. H. S. for the past two years and who will be there again next session, expects to receive her A.

B. degree in August '29. Professor C. M. Cleveland, formerly a Newton Countian who has been with the Department of Applied Mathematics otf this institution for the past eight years will be a candidate for his Ph.

D. L. Cooper recently remodeled and repaired his residence which adds considerably to, the appearance of the home. Rev. F.

L. Allen filled the pulpit at the local Presbyterian church last Sunday morning in the absence of the pastor, Rev. J. J. Mclnnis.

A new cottage is being erected just across the railroad from the N. depot, but we have not learned who will occupy the building. Rev. J. J.

Mclnnis spent the most of last week at Roberts where he conducted a series of services and reports a good meeting there. MrsH.WYelverJon of Bay Springs, is in the home of her brother, J. F. Ford having been brought here from the Anderson Hospital in Meridian. Rev.

J. J. Mclnnis and Revt J. E. Gray are holding a protracted meeting at Mt.

Moriah church near Bethel this week and report large congregations and good services. The two banks of NVn will close at 1 :00 P. M. on Monday, Tuesday, "Wednesday and Thursday of next week, so that their employees may attend Patrons Union each afternoon. Mrs.
