From they went by train to Freiburg, Germany and picked up their car: They drove across Bavaria and went up the Jugspipe Mountain from a resort town near Munich' they saw the remains of Hitter's summer home at' Berchtesgaden; and also The Eagle's Nest. They. visited Vienna -and saw an operetta. and an opera. Then they drove through Yugoalavia to, Italy, stopping in Venice, Florence' and.

They made several trips from her home to an exposition near Geneva, Berne, Zurich, Interlaken and up the Jungefrau Mountain by train. They returned through Basel and Cologne, then left the car to be shipped home in Antwerp, Belgium.

By train they went to Brussels and by plane to Paris and back (o New York enroute home. Douglas Hicks are parents of a daughter, Veronica Ann, born Nov. 29 in San Saba Memorial Hospital. Grandparents in this community are Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hicks.

Pvt. Henry Earl McCoury has been visiting his uncle and family, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert McCoury and other relatives in San Saba, Brownwood and Burnet. Henry Earl received his basic training at Fort Polk, La.

and later spent some time at Fort Belvoir, and will go from here to Egypt. Mrs. Ode Sargent has been moved out of Lampasas Hospital to the home of her son, James C. Sargent in Lampasas. We are glad to report she is feeling some better.

Bend-Chappel H. D. Club members were happy to receive a blue ribbon for their table entry at the San Saba County Pecan Show held in San Saba Dec. 5. Mrs.

Martin Vann and Mrs. Raleigh Reese received ribbons for their cookies and carrot bread. Pecans from. the old Mother Hollis Pecan tree received a red ribbon. Elbert McCoury taken to Lampasas Hospital Friday night.

He will be moved. to an Austin hospital this week. Bess McCoury, who has been visiting her brother, Tom and her sister, Mrs. Ode Sargent, for several" months left last week for her. home in La Grande, Oregon.

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Raines of Marshal, Mo. are visiting Mr. and Mrs.

T. S. Lemons Sr. and doing some deer hunting. Other visitors with the Lemons were her twin sister and husband, Mr.

A sister, Mrs. Comer; of San Saba has been visiting with the Collins since their return 222 Entries Judged In 1964 County Pecan Show Held Here the top three placings in each division of the 10th annual San Saba County Pecan Show where a record of 222 entries were exhibited for competition in mens' Tower last Saturday, Dec. 6, according to Billy ft. Kidd, secretary of San Saba County Per can Growers Association, the sponsor. Judges included Bluefford Hancock, Horticulturalist from Texas University; Robert Kensing, management specialist from San Angelo; Keith Hillman, Hood county agent; John Galloway, Brown county agent; and Burton Burks, pecan producer from Granbury.

Leonard San Saba Farm showed the champion shelling pecan and the highest per cent kernel was a recognized seedling shown by W. Boenicke of Bangs, with 63.04 percent.

A total of five judges selected Smiths Pecan Orchard, Producers Fountain Pen Ink, all popular colors, for sale at The NEWS. News Dec. 14-A bridal shower honoring Mrs. Odis Fulton was held Thursday, Dec. 10, at the homemaking room of Richland Sptings High School.
