Pre-School Course -The Pre- School Study Course sponsored by the Richland Springs Parent-Teacher Association concluded their three da study Wednesday afternoon, June 19. Mrs. Edgar Wood, chairman of the pre committee, reports a very good study with a. daily average attendance of 16 mothers. Daily average attendance in the nursery included 17 children.

Mrs. Kenneth Cole discussed the period of infancy the first day; Mrs. H. E. Pearce's topic 8 8 "Reading Readiness" and Mrs.

Taylor McGregor discussed "Discipline and Character Building." The Richland Springs Future Homemakers of America under the direction of Mrs. Earl Parks, were in charge of the nursery. FHA girls helping include Johnnie Marie Smith, Donna Adams, Edith Barina, Patty Pearce, Wanda McGary, and Georganna Adams. The nursery children enjoyed coloring, writing on the blackboard, singing, playing and having stories read to them by the FHA members. Mothers attending included Mmes.

M. Hayes, 90, were held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at Wallace and 2nd Street Church of Christ, conducted by Bro. Silas Howell and Bro. Paul Price.

Burial was made in Wallace Creek Cemetery under the direction of Howell-Doran Funeral Home, Pallbearers included his grandsons, Miles Smithhart, Hillie Hayes, Hilton Hayes, Scotty Roberds, Kyle Hayes, Kenneth Hayes and Frank Hall. A retired stock farmer, he died at: 1:35 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the home of his youngest daughter, Mrs. Ted Hall, with whom he had made his home for the past 14 years. He was born Oct, 20, 1872, the son of A.

A. Hayes and Louiza Thurman Hayes in Giles county, Tenn, He came to San Saba county in 1911. He married Etta Sullivan Feb. 7, 1896 in Lime stone county, She died April 21, 1948. He had been a member of the Church of Christ for the past 60 years.

Survivors include three daugh ters, Mrs. H. Smithhart of Algerita, Mrs. B. T.

Roberds of China Creek community and Mrs. Ted Tall of San Saba; five sons, E. T. Hayes and B. F.

Hayes, both of San Angelo, Modie Hayes of Littie Rock, Herman Hayes of Missouri and Loman Hayes of Pindale, 21 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one brother, Clyde Hayes of Algerita; and one sister, Mrs. Osborn Mulling of Wallace Creek community. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death of three children. Rites Held For Mrs. C.

Mrs. Guyton, who had been in ill health for several years, died in. All Saints at' 8:20 p.m. Sunday, June 30. Native of Saba county, Mra.

Guyton, the former Emma Watkins, was born May 23, 1890, the daughter of Ike Watking and Olivia Kirkpatrick Watkins. She was -married to i Carl Guyton in November 1906. She had lived in the county most all her life be-' fore moving to Fort Worth about seven months ago. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Survivors include her hueband of Fort Worth; one son, J. C.

Mrs. W. T. Barclay escaped serious injuries one day last week when a pressure cooker exploded. The lid blew off, hit the ceiling above her head, and landed at her feet.

She WAS canning tomatoes and reports that in spite of the explosion, not 8 single was broken. Guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. L.

Mr. and Mrs. David 'Hulme are the parents of Douglas Neil, eight pounds and two ounces, born June 30. children and four great-grandchildren. Mrs.

Spring Creek July 1-More showers came our way this week. Wednesday the gauge at the Dor Johnson place registered 1 inch and on Sunday afternoon .30 but larger amounts were reported both days around the community. Mr. and Mrs. G.

D. Johnson visited Tuesday and Wednesday in Cleburne with Mr. and Mrs. Steve Taylor. They also visited briefly Tuesday with Mr.

and Mrs. Gerald Johnson and David. Newest grandparents out our way are Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Judkins.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Judkins of Ft. Worth. Mr.

and Mrs. D. Rutherford visited Saturday afternoon and a while Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Johnson of San Saba.

Sherri and Terri Johnson of Austin, great-grandchildren: of the Rutherfords, were also visiting in the Johnson home. Weekend visitors of Mr. and Mrs. A. A.

Hopson were Mrs. Verma McFarland of Watsonville, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kollman of Hondo, Mr. and Mrs.

Marvin Wilder of Lampasas, Hubert Hopson of Redwood, and Mrs. Myra Early of Brownwood. Mrs. Bill Holley and children of Lampasas visited with the group Saturday afternoon and Mr. an.l Mrs.

Loyd Locker and Gayle joined them for a visit Saturday night. Several of this community attended funeral services for T. M. Sofge Sunday afternoon. Mr.

News From San Saba Nursing Home A new patient has been admitted to the San Saba Nursing Home; one who deserves ing as she is Mrs. Mary Chad wick of Richland Springs. She is 100 years and nine months old and is up and around in her room. Her son, Jim Chadwick of Hagerman, N. visited her recently.

Visitors of George Smith were his sons, A. D. Smith of San Saba land Robert Smith of Fort Worth. Roy Ragsdale visited his uncle, Joe Ragsdale, and gave him a haircut and shave. Mrs.

Sara Woodward, a patient, visited in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Piper, two nights then returned to the Home. Edgar Hubbert made his regular visit to see his uncle, John Flood, who had Sunday lunch with the Hubberts. Among the visitors of Miss Ola Neeper were her brother and wife. Mrs.

Herren and Mrs. Duey have many visitors. Mrs. Herren went to church as usual. Mr.

and Mrs. A. Reynolds visited her father, E. Tomlinson. Mrs.

Louis Gaffield of Austin visited her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Gage. Other visitors of Mrs. Gage were Mr. 'and.

Mrs. Fred: Whise nant who visit her regularly. C. A. Robbing and Mrs.

Minnie Lackey had their usual number of: visitors. Mrs. Russell Lane made her usual visit to see Miss Winnie Lane. Mrs. Garland Adams of Richland Springs also visited with Miss Lane.

The usual church services were held Sunday and all the patients enjoyed it very much. The pa tients join Mrs. Leona Baker in thanking all those who are re sponsible for the nice services. Mrs. James E.
