He also won second place in this division and he exhibited the champion goat of the show, which was first place winner in the yearling class. His kid goats placed second and third in their class, next to the kid goat of Ilob Yates, Cherokee 1-er', who took reserve champion award of the goat show. Pat Culpepper Will Speak At Football Banquet John Pat Culpepper, assistant coach at The Um'versity of Texas, will be the main speaker at the annual banquet honoring the San Saba High School Armadillos, their dates, the coaching staff, managers and cheerleaders tonight, Thursday, Jan.

The 930-pound Hereford was bred by Epperson Bros of Cherokee. This is the third year for Ginger, 11-ycars-old, to exhibit steers in the county show. Five Candidates Add Names To Political Pot Powder Puff Football Game Set Monday Nite The sophomore class of San Saba High School will sponsor the annual Powder Puff Football game at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, on Rogan Field.

The sophomore and junior girls will be matched against the freshmen and senior girls of the local high school. Principal Leon Lane will coach the sophomore-junior team while George Dennis will coach the freshman-senior team. This event is a money-raising activity for the sophomore class. Tickets may be obtained at the gate or from the members of the sophomore class. The political circle continues to grow larger, week by week, with five more candidates announcing their bids for office this week.

Judge Jack B. Miller has announced his candidacy for re-election to the office of District Judge of the 33rd Judicial District composed of Blanco, Burnet, Llano, Mason, Menard and San Saba counties. A contest has developed this week with the announcement of two' candidates for the office of State Representative of the 65th Texas District including Burnet, Gillespie, Lampasas, Llano, McCulloch, Mills and San Saba counties. Tom Henry of Burnet, formerly of San Saba, has announced his candidacy for the office in opposition to Representative Terry Townsend of Brady, who also has filed his candidacy for re-election. The race for the office of Public Weigher for Precincts One, Three and Four is becoming stronger with two more candidates announcing their bids for the office this week, making a total of four in the race.

Kirby Hooten and Nolan McKee, both new to politics, have made their formal announcements to the voters in the three precincts this week. The other candidates who announced previously are Wesley Griffay and Jack Johnson. The race for sheriff, tax assessor-collector is still a three-way contest between Sheriff Brantley Barker, who filed for re-election, Charles R. Beakley, a stock farmer of the Elm Grove community, and Mack Chief of Police for the city of San Saba. The only other office contested to date is that of Constable, Precinct One, for which D.

0. Mace and R. J. Spear have filed their bids, John R. McRorey has to this date drawn no opposition for the office of County Judge.

He has served in the office since last October when he was appointed to serve the remainder of the year, following the resignation of Warden Terry, who was later appointed County Attorneyi C. W. High Invitational Cage Tourney Starts Herk Friday San Saba Junior High cagers will host an invitational basketball tournament Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17 and Coach Don Hennig has announced. Seventh and eighth grade teams from five schools will participate in the tournament. They include Brady, Burnet, Lampasas, Copperas Cove and San Saba. The tournament will begin at 5 p.m.

Friday when four games will be played, Lampasas seventh graders will play Copperas Cove seventh grade, followed by the eighth grade game of the two schools. Then San Saba's seventh graders will contest Brady sev-' enth grade team followed by the; San Saba and Brady eighth grade contest.
