Michael Hart, president of the senior class at St. Joseph Central Catholic High School, has earned the leading role in the class play, "The Perfect Idiot." The play, to be presented at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the school, is a satire that centers around a high school gang which hates the boy wonder, Dan (Hart). They've heard too much about his I.Q. and they despise his "smart me-dumb you" attitude.

Unexpectedly, the star athlete. Puff (Kris Stotz), is disqualified from all athletic events and someone has to tutor him. There isn't anybody but Dan. Since Dan has a problem of his own-his parents won't allow him to take the college examinations as long as he's unpopular Dan offers a trade. He'll tutor Puff if the gang will rally around and act like friends even if they're not.

Reluctantly they agree. Fiery Linda (Chris Ling) likes the agreement least of all for she's determined to go steady with Dan as long as he tutors Puff. Meanwhile, Dan has built a hypnotic box and with it is making Puff into a straight A grade student. A soap manufacturer becomes interested in the box. With everything rolling smoothly for Dan, his applecart is suddenly upset by wild mishaps.

Others in the case are Mark Golamb as Walter P. Latherby; Dan Powers, Roger Tennyson; Terri Rectenwald, Margaret Tennyson; Tom Guyer, Jackie Tennyson; Connie Meyer and Patty Chudzinski, Carla; Mary Lou Dorobek, Jeannie; Sue Wagner, Rhodora; Julie Schmidt and Nancy Hrupcho, Prof. Von Barf; Tom Poorman, Mr. Barnard; Rita Steinbauer, Miss Baker; and Deb Stotz, Miss Booth. Xctus- messenger- Entertainment But Gemini wont be ready Cedar Point opens Saturday SANDUSKY Carousels, the most traditional amusement park ride, will be saluted Saturday when Cedar Point opens for its 109th season. Along with the commemoration of the antique carousels, Cedar Point's 1978 debut will feature an IMAX film, live entertainment and animal shows all new this year plus the traditional performances by area high school bands. Since authentic carousels are becoming so rare, park officials thought guests might like to know the history of Cedar Point's machines. Cedar Point's carousels have hand-carved wooden animals and chariots, in addition to Wurlitzer organs and were built between 1910 and 1925 by the famous manufacturers Daniel C. Muller and William H.

"North of Superior," an 18-minute trip through the wilds of Northern Canada, will be shown at the Cedar Point Cinema this year. Although five rollar coasters will be operating on opening day, the park's newest roller coaster, Gemini, will not be completed due to severe weather during construction last winter.
