The Army announced the re-: turn of Homer H. Cox. 33.1 of Tulsa. and Leland H. Towers.

28. a merchant seaman, of San Francisco. has been missing from his military police unit in Berlin since Sept. 22. 1949.

He apparently was arrested by the Russians in the Soviet sector of the city but they never had acknowledged holding him. Towers disappeared in Finland in 1952 while on shore leave from his ship. The two men apparently have been in Russian prison camps all: this time. Germans repatriated in the Soviet amnesty of minor war criminals reported recently that they saw Cox and Towers in such camps and that both men had urged their help in ing American authorities. S.

State Department thereupon officially asked Moscow for the release of the men. Army officers picked up the pair in the Soviet headquarters at Karlshorst this afternoon. They said the men "looked all right" physically except that they needed some barbering. Army investigators took Cox land Towers in custody for questioning and indicated that neither would be available for any public statements or pictures until the inquiry is ended, and afa medical examination Thursday afternoon. Lee. 36. former professional boxer, died of a bullet wound today, victim of a mistake in reading the number on a motel door key. Sheriff's detectives said Lee was wounded last Friday night when he misread the number in the key and tried to enter unit No. 9 instead of the one to which he had just been assigned.

No. 5. He had just checked into the motel in the suburban Inglewood area. The occupant of No. 9, Nep Barragan, 42.

a machinist, said he heard someone trying to get into his room and warned him to go away. Barragan told detectives the attempt to enter his room continued, despite warnings that he would shoot, that he then fired shots through the door. Lee was wounded in the lung. Detectives said Barragan has been booked on suspicion of murder. Lee was a middleweight boxer from 1945 until about 1949 and several times fought in main events at Hollywood Legion Stadium.

Mrs. Staser was a member of the Salem Presbyterian church. She survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clyde Hawkins of Mt. Vernon and Mrs.

Alfred Retheford of Royal Oak, ter, Mrs. R. F. Purdue of Odin: three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Little Daughter Of Mt.

V. Pastor Dies Yesterday Nancy Lee Hall, eight year daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Layton L. Hall, 821 south 20th street, died shortly after one o'clock Monday afternoon at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

The body will lie in state at Joahan Funeral Home in Evansville until the funeral hour. In addition to her parents, a brother, Billy at home, and four grandparents also survive. Nancy Lee was a second grade student at Horace Mann school. Husband Of Former Resident Dies In Georgia Friends here have received word of the death of C. R.

"Jack" Daniel, which occurred December 22 in Athens, Georgia. Mr. Daniel was husband of the former Ferne Gholson. a former resident of Mt. Vernon.

They visited here often and had number of friends in this city. Mr. Daniel was director of the Webb-Crawford Wholesale Grocery Co. at Athens. He was active in church and civic affairs in that city.

Funeral services were held December 23. Mrs. Maude Martin Maulding Is Dead Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Maude Martin Maulding, 351 north 10th street, Can Jose, California, at 4:30 p. m.

December 19. A graveside service was held December 20. She was the wife of the late Sam Maulding and was a former resident of Hamilton county. Receives Word Of Relative's Death Mrs. Jetta Harris has received word of the death of her motherin-law, Mrs.

Betty Harris, Newbern, Tennessee. Mrs. Harris was the mother of the late D. C. Harris, former accountant at the Mammoth store.
