Allphin, director of the Illinois Department of Revenue, reminded citizens today.

Nearly $20 million in cash has been dispersed by the state since the Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief Act became effective in 1973. More than 120,000 eligible citizens have received cash grants, averaging $160, based on property tax paid. Allphin outlined the ways renters and homeowners should file a claim this year: 78 "Renters (persons who rented homes, apartmentA, or residents of nursing homes) should file a claim for grant now, based on rent paid during 1973. "Homeowners, however, cannot file until they receive 1973 tax bills from their respective counties beginning in May." IWO JIMA U.S. Marines landed on Iwo Jima, a Japanese-held island, on Feb.
